Port Review by rsschinko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The number of ports was a major factor in determining our cruise choice.

Princess did fail in our first port of Guernsey by not launching enough tenders.

The wait to get off the ship and the return, approx 1 hour wait, was not acceptable.

The tender service at Edinburgh (South Queensferry) was not an issue since they launched enough tenders to handle the passengers.

Mixed Feelings by redmen66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Princess has plans to replace bedding on its ships.  This doesn't help if you have

12 nights to sleep on a collapsed mattress.  Service varied from exceptional to fair.

Frequently had to leave the dining room before getting dessert to see the show.

Unless you got to the theatre 30-45 minutes before the show, you would not get a seat.  The entertainment at the theatre was good to excellent

Activities were repetitive and lacked enthusiasm or imagination.

The buffet was usually very good with good flavor and variety.   The main dining room food ranged from fair to very good.  The Crab Shack specialty restaurant was definitely not worth the extra charge.   The service was very slow and portions very poor. Some Princess repeat cruisers were disappointed with this cruise.

Having movies only outdoors on a cruise where the temperature rarely got above 60 and was windy was a negative.  So you wouldn't go to the movies but the activities weren't a good substitute.

Fantastic trip! by Cruiser396

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

All parts of the trip were fantastic as any adventure on the sea.  A long time crew member had a heart attack a day or so after leaving Bermuda.  The ship evacuated the gentlemen very professionally.   Made us aware of the ship/crews ability to act/react to an emergency.

Caribbean Princess TA - April 20, 2016 by Donk183

Cruise was as advertised with the exception of Holyhead Wales.  We had to bypass Holyhead because of weather and sea conditions.  The Caribbean Princess crew and staff was exceptional.

Nice cruise, Grand Itinerary by Grandme

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

Staff on the Caribbean Princess was just wonderful all over the ship but most of all in the Anytime Coral Dinning Room table 354 as we were lucky to have Jackus ( From Poland ) our waiter and his assistance Katrynia she and him worked great together, we were lucky to have them for 27 days out of 30. All the staff in the area where our dinning table was located made us feel like one big family.  Food was very good.

Improvements: They need new mattress, ours had such a deep U shape hole in it, I asked for a extra blanket to put in the the hole which helped.

Would recommend this cruise because Ireland and Scotland are just beautiful.

If you have roots from Ireland and Scotland this is a cruise of a life time for you.

A Few Problems by shashii

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

We had a few problems.  Several were weather related.  We didn't leave Houston for 1 full day.  Thus we arrived later in our first few ports.  Our stop in Holyhead was completely obliterated due to high seas and the worry about tendering in.  This was very disappointing because we had booked an excursion for the pfestinog railway.  The other problem was , that my military credit was not listed.  I had to jump through some hoops to get it.  The on-line site for Princess says that once you claim it, they have a record of it, and you don't have to do it again.  However at the service desk, they said you had to do it for every cruise.  Other than that, I believe it was quite enjoyable.  enjoyed the ports we did get to visit.  The hired help was very good including waiters, and the person that cleaned our room etc. Happy

Caribbean Princess Transatlantic by kjurban70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

We had a very good time on this transatlantic crossing.  We sailed out of Houston a day late because of the weather.  Made it to Ft. Lauderdale about 8 hours late, but made it to Bermuda on time.  On to Liverpool where the weather was pretty lousy but that was to be expected I'm told.  We missed our stop in Holyhead, Wales (again because of weather).  That was a bummer, but on the bright side, we got to Hamburg, Germany a day earlier.  Hamburg was not to be believed.  We loved the City and the buildings were very modern and special. We left Hamburg about 2 hours late and arrived in La Havre about an hour late, but still had plenty of time for tours.

We were a little disappointed in the food because after the first 3 days, they repeated the exact same menus for the next 3 days.  They seemed to repeat a lot of the same meals many times over, so that wasn't so great, but we definitely did not starve.

Embarkation and Disembarkation processes were exceptional.

33 days of relaxation by bobe2013

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Transatlantic

The cruise started off on the wrong foot. There were delayed passengers due to the weather in Dallas, and while they arrived before 9PM, the ship could not leave because the Houston Port Athority closed the ship channel. The cruise finally left the next day and was late getting into Ft Lauderdale, although we did go at top speed, and made up some time.

The trans-Atlantic portion was sooth and we arrived in Liverpool on time. The weather turned bad the next day and we had to miss Holyhead ( a tender port ), This allowed the ship to get to Hamburg the evening before the schedule. This was great because we got to see the city at night.

The next portion of the cruise was around the British Isles. It was a new port almost every day. Most of the ports were new to us and very enjoyable,

We would do this cruise again in the same cabin.

Great vacation!! by Cruiser274

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My vacation was so fun and all went smoothly and was busy with activities all the time.  Food was great and lots of choices. Our dinning server was excellent and always had a smile.  Our room was an inside but had plenty of room for storage for two people.  Ship needs lot of work as carpet was stained in our room and tile in bathroom needed replaced.  Ship had lot of activities for all ages.  The movies were good and the theater shows were also enjoyable.  The crew on the ship were very friendly and willing to help with any questions that needed answering.  Meet so many nice people and will look forward to my next Princess cruise in 2017.

Great time in the tropics by wittupnorth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was everything we hoped for and more. Our experiences on board were wonderful. We were treated like royalty. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we wanted. We went on several land excursions and they too more than met our expectations.

Perfect Escape by carlehurst

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first experience with Princess Cruise line and it couldn't have been better.

The service was excellent and the dining experience was amazing. We can't find any negatives except perhaps that we won't be able to sail out of Houston again.

Disappointing ship schedule by danbolt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship left 2 hours later than scheduled from Houston.  The delay was not made up at sea thus our excursion was impossible to be able to meet on schedule in Cozumel.  The second excursion in Belize was also missed due to delays and miscommunication of the time difference, by the Excursion Staff onboard Caribbean Princess, in regards to the Tender schedule.

Most disappointing! Thank goodness we had Insurance purchased from on the Excursions. I informed CuruisesOnly Excursion Personnel on our return on Monday April 18, 2016 @ 11:30 a.m. for refund. I have not heard back from Kathy @ ext. #817 as of today's date of April 20, 2016.

Pleasurable Cruise by jsgoad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship in excellent condition. Staff in all areas of the ship were extremely personable and attentive, especially in the Coral Dining Room - our main dining room (table 332).Our Mini Suite was in superior condition and in a great location. Only negative for this Mini Suite and location - balcony not covered and open to view from above decks.

Easy, smooth embarkation and debarkation at Houston.

excellent service and entertainment..... by nealb1051

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

But poor disembarking procedures...and disembarking.   Ports were good and so was the food, but Horizon Cafeteria was too small during peak hours.  The dining rooms were fine.  The service in the restaurants and our cabin steward was outstanding and the entertainment was excellent.

Hoped for better by kjrussell1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second Princess cruise and our second time on the Caribbean Princess. Our first time we missed the first day of our cruise due to fog detaining the ship.  We thought that we would give Princess a second chance so we booked out March 30th 11 day cruise on the Caribbean Princess. Our biggest complaint was our bed. We had a balcony stateroom and honestly the hardest bed I have ever laid on. The only help we got on that was a mattress pad which made it a little less painful. The other problem we experienced was the over crowding on the ship. We did not get to see any of the nightly shows due to not enough seating. People told us that they had to arrive 45 minutes to an hour early to get a seat. Not worth it in my opinion! The food was great, the service was great, but the fact that this ship can hold up to 3300 guest does not mean that there is adequate room and accomodations on this ship. I think this ship needs to be refurbished and more room made both in the theater and the dining.
