Review summary

Brilliant cruise overall with amazing ports in Norway. Loved Britannia as a ship with great venues. It coped very well with nearly 4000 passengers. Service could be much improved across the line.

Embarkation

Very busy but very well organised in ocean terminal Southampton

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Theatre productions were not great quality, vocal performances were quite poor. Other entertainment around ship was fun with bands, 80s night, a comedian, silent disco and games shows.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Have always found P&O service to be lacking when compared to most other lines. Very hit and miss with each crew member. This cruise was better than Ventura but it’s very transactional and “get the job done” type service… The staff do work very hard, especially bar staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship design was brilliant from venues to decor. Cleanliness was at times lacking, public toilets in the evenings would run out of towels and soap in some sinks, our cabin bathroom had mould in the shower cubical. Hand washing was not at all enforced for buffet.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Different design with smaller bedroom but much larger storage area and hanging space so we actually preferred it. No sofa but that’s not a problem. Balcony not as tight as I thought it would be after reading other reviews.

Ship tip

Book restaurants as soon as you have boarded and have your room key card to log into app.

Ports of call

Haugesund

Did a tour of Viking village and museum. Best cruise line tour we have done.

Olden, Norway

One of my all time favourite ports. The lakes were beautiful. Cheaper option is to take the open top bus to lakes and waterfall. If booking sky lift book through company or on arrival as they pick you up from ship side.

Loved the views around the port. Railway is a must do for us. Book directly for a big saving. Minutes walk to station, very easy.

Stavanger, Norway

Lovely little port and town. More quaint than I expected

Very easy. Left bags out at 9pm the night before and walked off after breakfast as we pleased
