Review summary

Thoroughly enjoyed. Lookinv forward to IONA in 2020 , the beautiful Fjiords.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very good the new online login sped up the process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Mdr was super despite allergies. The limelight club meals were very good and the cookery club experience was out of this world.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty of quizzes & dance classes, poolside activities also. No rockwalls or surfing but then i wouldnt do them anyway, much more relaxing this way.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The sets & staging of the company shows were oug of this world, the featured acts were good. Jimmy James was awesome from the 60's and the "Astonishing" magic show was just that. The limelight shows with the guest artists was excellent value fof money. Saw Chesney Hawkes, Simon Webbe & Gareth Gates.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
From steward to waitstaff ,the service was phenominal. Sunil, Harish, Prakash, Ferdinand, Ashvin, Analynne & Edgardo were standout.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
All clean & tidy, some areas a little tired now but she is 5 years old & i believe having a refit at the end of this season. We liked the layout, except the theatre is a bit of a trek around Brodies pub & when you get there & find a seat you have to retrace your steps to brodies to get a drink, no waiter service in theatre, maybe needs a rethink.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Overall, good size, very good layout, ample storage space, shower good but bathroom itself a bit small. 3 uk points in room but no usb points, in this day & age could use 2 per room. No access to on-board account via tv, so visit & queue in guest services required, may want to look into that for refit.

Ship tip

Enjoy the experience. More relaxing than some gimmicky ships, the kids still loved it. it

Cadiz (Spain)

Jerez horse show & sherry taster. Excellent trip.

Barcelona, Spain

4 out of 5
We did, 3 sights to see what we wanted, then back to las ramblas for the market, sadly since the terrorist attack, the security in place now means the wonderful outside tables at the various cafes & bars have vanished.

Florence/Pisa

4 out of 5
Did Florence on a previous trip so visited pisa, took a minibus from the port, cost €20 each for transfer & 2hours freetime. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
No excursion as sunday, so we felt it not suitable, some excellent shops & we walked along the front & found a wonderful cafe, pizzeria for a drink & snack.

Cartagena, Spain

5 out of 5
Very easy to diy, flat & accessible. We took a taxi ride from thd pier €40 for 4 it took an hour anx took us up to the Park after stopping at thd beach & in the olx quarter & we had fabulous viws of thd city & the Roman amphitheatre. Excellent value fof money.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

4 out of 5
Only seem to stop for 1/2 days nos for refuelling. Still enough time to hit main street shop til you drop , have a drink at ghe Nelson.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Waited over an hour in theatre, then filed out row by row instead of deck by deck, so mad scramble as luggage stacked deck by deck. Took another hour to finx said luggage , thag was only because there were goox staff who were also apparently overwhelmed by the milling mixed up mob. By far the most confusing & stressful disembarkcation

There were 8 of us on the Pisa trip. 4 in our party and another 4 from the ship. Worth the money.
