Review summary

The cruise was excellant. We didn't mind that the ship was dated. The staff was wonderful and everyone was friendly. There were some college spring breakers but we barely saw them in the evening and when we did, they were respectful and fun. My one piece of advice on disembarkation, before you book any kind of transportation, find out what is being offered. I pre-booked an Uber that cost us $60.00 plus a tip from the port to the airport only to find out there was a shuttle that was taking people to the airport for $10.00 per person.

Embarkation

From the time we arrived at the port to the time we got on the ship was a total of 15 minutes!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in the MDR for dinner and Windjammer for breakfast and lunch. The food was very good. The drinks were okay but they were missing quite a few alcohols. I'm not sure if that is typical of this ship or if it was because there was only 1 more short cruise after this one and the ship is going into dry dock for refurbishing. We found plenty other drinks.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Per usual, people reserved chairs around the pool and deck above first thing however there were plenty of chairs. We didn't take advantage of other onboard activities. The music around the pool was average at best. The belly flop contest was hilarious.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Oh What a Night was okay. The singing was good, the rest bordered on corny. The band in the Centrum was excellant however the band around the pool and in the Colony Club was terrible. The cruise director did a great job with the belly flop contest but was average at best with other activities.

Children's Programs

We didn't travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was superb as was the rest of the staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean but it is very dated. It will be interesting to see what they do when it goes into dry dock this month to be refurbished.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This was definitely small for a balcony room. The loveseat was pretty beat up. The bathroom was small and the shower was ridiculously small. The water pressure in the shower was like a power washer which could be good or bad. The water was also very hot, which is a plus for us.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida Did not visit port

We stayed at a place through AirBnB and took an Uber to the port.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

I'm not super crazy about this port. They make it difficult to get out of the port area so you have to shop, which is okay. The downtown area isn't nice and the stray dogs and overheated horses taking people around is just sad.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We did self-assist disembarkation and it couldn't have been easier. The day before we left, there was a video running on tv. that explained exactly what disembarkation would look like. Our room steward also left a flyer on the bed explaining everything. It took us about 20 minutes to get off the ship, through customs and outside.
