Review summary

Overall, great trip! We enjoyed all the ports, learned a lot and saw everything we wanted to see on the trip. I never felt rushed. I would definitely recommend this ship and this itinerary.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We arrived early due to an early flight from the States. Ship was not ready for passengers yet. Had us wait in the terminal. Short lines at checkin due to early flight.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the dinner we had a Chops Grill. Main dinning and Windjammer were good as always. Wish they had more options at the main dining room for dinner.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We only had 3 at sea days. We played in pool each of those days. Since we were traveling with older teens, we were able to use the solarium pool and hot tub. Very nice! We also played putt putt, shuffle board, table tennis and spent 2 nights in the casino. Really enjoyed the learn-to-play blackjack sessions they offered in the casino.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The orchestra was fantastic! Very much enjoyed listening to them. The guitarist was also very good. We went to about half of the evening shows. They always had music in the centrum too and we sat and listened several nights there. Hello Clo the cruise director was funny!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was incredible. Theses guys work so hard. Nothing to complain about.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Our room was on the tenth floor right off the centrum. Great location. Easy access to windjammer, pools, and main dinning. We used the stairs most of the time. Elevators were always full. I know this is an older ship, but I thought it was fine. Always clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a junior suite with 4 people. It was great. Bathroom was regular size, not tiny. We had a large walkin closet we used as a changing room. Cabin was always cleaned. Would definitely select this room type again. Really enjoyed the balcony too.

Ship tip

Older ship, but great non-the-less. Met our expectations. Only draw back to an older ship was that they do not offer a digital photo package unless you purchase all pictures and then pay an addition $100 to have them burned onto a CD. Wish the ice cream machines were on all day.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

4 out of 5
Since our flight arrived early and the ship was not accepting passengers yet, we walked around the shopping area near the port a bit. It was pretty, but we were tired from the overnight flight. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we had not been so tired.

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

4 out of 5
Took the train in Nice. Spent the morning on the Promenade de Anglais and returned to Villefranche-Sur-Mer and spent the afternoon playing at the beach. Beautiful port, close to train station.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Did a private excursion with Rome in Limo. Driver met us at the port and took us to Pisa and Florence. I had prepurchased tickets to the tower at Pisa, so we were able to climb the tower. Beautiful views of the city and the campus in Pisa from the top of the leaning tower. Had lunch at a bakery in Pisa and continued on to Florence for some shopping and site seeing.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Did a highlights of Rome private excursion with Rome in Limo. In the morning we visited the forum, the colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Circus Maximus. We spent the afternoon at the Vatican and saw the Sistine Chapel. Very busy day, as expected. Wish the ship had overnighted in Rome.

Salerno (Naples), Italy

5 out of 5
Did a private tour of the Amari Coast with Rome in Limo. Visited the sea side town of Positano for some shopping. Had lunch and did more shopping in Sorrento and then finished the day at Pompeii.

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
The ship overnighted in Venice. The first day we did an excursion through Royal Caribbean that included the Doges Palace, a glass blowing demonstration and a walk through of St. Mark's Basilica. The next morning we did a gondola ride and shopping in Venice. We also rode to the top of the tower in St. Mark's Square. Great views of the city and the canals / islands from the top.

Zadar, Croatia

5 out of 5
Visited Kyrk National Park. Water Falls were beautiful. Less crowded after the chaos of Rome and Venice.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
Beautiful sailing into Kotor. Did a Royal Caribbean excursion to the Blue Cave and then spent a couple hours on a private beach. Very peaceful!

Disembarkation

We were one of the first off the ship since we had an early flight out. No problems! Great cruise!
