Ship: Azura

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

Azura and her crew did not disappoint us in any way. Attentive and always smiling. We loved this ship as much this time as we did the first time. On board shopping is a delight, the food is amazing, the entertainment is terrific and the service is first class.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Once the flight and inevitable COVID paperwork was done the embarkation process was quick and easy. A few queues due to extra security and COVID checks but the staff were cheery and happy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
There seemed to be less variety than previous cruises but the quality was great and the staff amazing as always

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Although we don't get involved in many of these there was always something going on for all ages.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Amazing. The headliners were awesome and the ships band Pulse were terrific. Some great speciality acts as well the Sting Tribute and Jo Roschel were outstanding

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were always attentive and helpfull. They gave the impression they were as happy to be back on board as we were. There are some changes due to cost cutting and COVID, but the staff always did their best to work around these, to ensure the holiday was amazing

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We love Azura and the refit does seem to have given her a bit of a spruce up. No great changes but she did look good.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The toilet could be a little temperamental at times and we did spend a day without air-conditioning. I did wonder if this was due to a COVID case on our deck bit of course no one would admit that. Other than that the cabin was a nice size and clean and comfortable. Over the space of two weeks we never felt claustrophobic in it.

Ship tip

Be grateful for the COVID changes and not annoyed at them. Go with the flow and have a great time

Ports of call

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Although Naples itself isn't great. Very noisy and bustling city. Pompei is a must see. Get a guide, we did the excursion. You will miss the best bits if you go on your own. This place will live in my memory forever.

Rhodes, Greece

5 out of 5
Process have gone up here but the town is a beautiful as ever and a great place to kick back and relax with some good local shopping

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
Weather wasn't great here but the locals couldn't do enough to ensure our visit was still special. If you're fit enough do the volcano hike is amazing. Then sit at the top of the town and get that gorgeous photo

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
I little industrial but a lovely town to enjoy a coffee while everyone else visits Rome

TUSCANY REGION, ITALY

5 out of 5
Livorno is a surprising town. Everyone disappears on excursions but the town is well worth a wander round. Very pretty and some good Italian fashion shopping at very reasonable prices

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

3 out of 5
Fast to many people trying to get you in their shop. Some can be almost aggressive. Be careful

Ajaccio, Corsica

4 out of 5
Lovely town and some great shops

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
Very busy. The acropolis is worth a look

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was well managed although I do think giving up our cabin at 8am when we wouldn't be leaving the ship until 2 pm was a bit early. I do however fully understand there is lots to do on changeover days but I would hope the cabins were this thoroughly cleaned before COVID as well.
