Review summary

Relaxing, enjoyable but not without incident. Heavy weather through Bay of Biscay, Medivac helicopter for poorly passenger and two early morning wake up calls from the captain. Apart from that, a lovely cruise. Excellent entertainment, superb food.

Really easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
First night in MDR the food was just OK. After that, the food seemed to get better and better each time. Last meal in the MDR was luscious!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Adult only pool was very cold on a couple of occasions and on one day, it was closed.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was really good in all venues apart from the female singer in the venue midship (can't remember the name of the venue). Unfortunately she seemed to not know most of the songs and appeared to be reading the lyrics from an ipad or something. Because of this, her timing often didn't match the band. It became fun just watching her mess up. The rest of the entertainment was superb.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
It was sometimes a bit tedious waiting to get the attention of the bar staff, but they were working really hard. We Just didn't seem to be in the right place at the right time. Staff everywhere else were great. Very friendly and helpful. Shouldn't really grumble about any of the staff on these ships. They all work extremely hard.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Some place were a little bit worn & tired, but what would you expect from a ship that seems to never stop, other than for a refit.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin size was good, balcony was plenty big enough and bigger than many of the others. It was reasonably clean. The only niggle was the sealent around the balcony door. It was breaking away in places and this allowed the wind to whistle though. Not all the time because it depended on which direction the wind was coming from.

Ship tip

Be polite to your cabin steward/stewardess. They work hard, so at least show them a bit of respect.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5

Cherbourg, France

4 out of 5
We arrived on a Sunday and most places were closed. bit of a boring port if not much is open.

La Coruna, Spain

4 out of 5
A nice port for a stroll around at your leisure. We didn't do any excursions.

Santander, Spain

4 out of 5
Another nice port for a walk around.

St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands

3 out of 5
It was probably OK for most, but we decided not to get off the ship. Azura is a big ship with a lot of passengers and trying to get everyone off by tender is a long drawn out process. We didn't fancy queueing for hours just to get maybe one hour ashore.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It was a little bit of a wait to get off, but not to bad because you could just sit around with a coffee and reflect on the lovely holiday we had just had.
