Review summary

First time cruisers and would definitely recommend. Have booked again! Azura was like a floating hotel with something for everyone on board. Food choice out of this world and lots of sunny sea days to enjoy the open decks. Entertainment good & staff made holiday a really relaxing one. First time using P&O and can’t recommend highly enough. Thanks Azura!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Stress free, cases taken as soon as out of taxi and hardly any wait to get onto ship and through security. Staff welcoming & helpful every step of the way.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main restaurant food and service was top quality every night. Waiters attentive & went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our meal. Buffet restaurant food good quality but a little more noise & needed to negotiate queues at busy times. Preferred the service restaurants. Epicaurean soeciality and Sindhu restaurant real dining experiences - definitely worth the extra cost for a special treat.

Meridian Restaurant

5 out of 5

Lovely venue to eat of an evening. Service outstanding and menu choice very wide. All food was delicious and not a fault the whole cruise.

Breakers Bar

3 out of 5

Good choice of drinks, near to pool so convenient but service could be a little slow if pool area busy. Still service with a smile.

Blue Bar

5 out of 5

Great service of an evening, nice place to wind down at end of day. Good choice of drinks & comfortable seating.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pool and fitness centre/spa really well designed. Jacuzzis can get busy but maintained well. Pools drained on rough sea day which meant one pool was extra busy but didn’t feel like swimming against the weather anyway! Great range of activities on board - something for everyone.

Oasis Pool

4 out of 5

Adults only pool. Good place to relax in sun away from the busy pools but still got busy at certain times of day. Good choice of sun beds nearby.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows and performances were good, a couple of stand out acts that were flown in for a few nights. On board entertainment team work really hard but not all of their shows were high standard. Still for general evening entertainment it was all enjoyable.

Manhattan

4 out of 5

Favourite place to drink in the evening, the lighting was dim and gave it a perfect atmosphere for the entertainment on offer. Service quick and great choice of drinks.

Atrium

4 out of 5

First impressions as you step onto ship are of the Atrium. Beautifully decorated & a great place to sit and relax of an evening listening to music or watching dancing.

Children's Programs

No children in our party.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were exceptional. Welcoming, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Cabin steward did a fantastic job of keeping our cabin clean. All ship personnel were informative and served with a smile.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout and design great - it is a large ship and it took a few days to get our bearings with which lifts stopped at which deck. Whole of ship is clean and well-maintained for a working ship. There are areas that need updating but it is due a refit I think. Carpets need replacing in some cabins & a few of the toilets needed a bit of attention. Sewage smell on promendade deck wasn’t pleasant but rest of the boat was spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Size and comfort perfect for two people. Very clean and towels replaced daily if asked. Bedding changed regularly and cabin always cleaned as soon as vacated each day.

Ship tip

Pace yourself with food if first time cruiser! Make the most of sea days by getting bearings on boat at start of cruise.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5
Only disembarked from this so no comment.

Cadiz (Spain)

5 out of 5
Used hop on hop off bus to see most of city. Port easy to disembark from. Cathedral and beach worth a visit. There’s some lovely seafood restaurants on the beach which are worth visiting. Quite a bit of walking but easy to get around in the time given.

Barcelona, Spain

4 out of 5
Booked Sagrada tickets online which saved us time. Then used hop on bus to see other sites but time limited so need to plan before disembarking. Great to see port lit up at night and leave late in evening. Great restaurants on Las Ramblas.

Nice, France Did not visit port

Didn’t get off boat as tender was very busy and not enough time.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
We had bad weather on our visit and this meant the hop on open top bus wasn’t the best experience! We ended up soaking wet trying to warm up in a restaurant. Not enough time to see the main tourist sites - with the two hour journey either side of disembarking it left little time for exploring.

Cartagena, Spain

5 out of 5
Beautiful port. Flat walking and a lovely Main Street of shops and cafes/bars. Lovely little Spanish town. Would visit again.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

3 out of 5
Very busy. Queued for an hour to get shuttle taxi into Main Street - could walk it but one of our party was unable to. Shops offering lots of bargains but very busy and time limited again because of time needed to get back to ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Stress free and a lovely end to the holiday.
