A quick visit to some of Italy’s highlights by YellowRose4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We enjoyed seeing the beautiful ports in Italy. Montenegro was a very interesting port as well. It’s hard to fit it all in 8 days. I would have loved more time in Sorrento and Sicily, but overall the cruise was very nice.

Azamara Pursuit - France intensive . Amazing by Georgeven

One week in the french riviera, what more can you ask for... Azamara does a great job visiting small ports and providing a product that for us works great.

17 day rio to lisbon by AZduo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

A little disappointed with the Pursuit as compared to the Journey but the food was very good. They did shut down the additional cooking station in the buffet area. The daily wine selection was poor.

First time. Small ship but new refurbishment. Service is superb. Cabins small. Casual vibe focussed on relaxing. Best sun loungers at sea. Great dining variety. Drinks packages a mess. Entertainment good but old fashioned. Nice ports of call especially punte del edge and buzios with an upmarket vibe and safer feel.

South America Adventure by Allydelia

Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: South America

Would I travel again.. well it would not be a first choice but then I am not loyal to any line, for me it’s about the itinerary and if that happens to be of in interest then maybe I will but not one I would be recommending others to actively look at traveling with Azamara.

First time on Azamara and... by Allydelia

Sail date: /
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

First time on Azamara and we only have Oceania to compare it to for the size of ship and class. Overall the ship is ok but very surprising that so many people had plumbing issues in cabins and had to move cabins, given this ship has only recently been under a full refit. Food and service was similar to Oceania but you do have to pay for the speciality restaurants on Azamara, that for me did not really meet the standard or have the variety I would expect when paying a premium. Overall food did lack taste. Service ok but not at all to the standard of Oceania, give the ship was not full during our sailing you did not feel as looked after as you would expect for the class of ship. The biggest issue was the shore excursions. Very badly organised , not at all as advertised and not safe at all. Actually taken to unsafe location for restroom with drugs being taking, guide asleep on back of coach etc . Not expected from an onboard organised trip. Tours taken off ship and arranged locally 100% better value and safe. We also had ports cancelled and no attempt to try and arrange alternative other then returning early to departure port and having wasted overnight stay in port. Or was that because the entertainment team did not get back on ship at Rio so they had no one to run any of the activities so just wanted us back in port as soon as possible... (coincidence) You do not get shuttle service to centre from ports as advertised.. when you ask why not , what they advise is what they actually mean by this , is a bus from the port terminal to the ship. ( ummmm I think that is expected not a benefit) Would I travel again.. well it would not be a first choice but then I am not loyal to any line, for me it’s about the itinerary and if that happens to be of in interest then maybe I will but not one I would be recommending others to actively look at traveling with.

An endurance punctuated by a few interesting places by mongoose

Have been on several cruises, including Azamara. The overall experience on the Pursuit was as nice as cruises on Quest and Journey. In talking with other guests, many had similar observations. I don't think this ship is suited for l voyages or ones with at sea days.

Azamara is unique among cruise lines by ViscaBarca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

It was good to be back on an Azamara ship after a disappointing cruise earlier this year on a competitor that is supposedly more luxurious but that we found lacking in many ways. The Azamara Guest Relations staff and other officers and crew were always helpful and attentive. The new ship is lovely (though we did prefer the more traditional decor of the past because it seemed more comfortable). We cruise on Azamara partly to visit unusual places or to be able to dock closer to city centers. This cruise did not disappoint in that way in spite of several changes because of storms. The other reason we cruise on Azamara is to relax. Yes, it lacks all the bells and whistles of bigger ships, but we enjoy the living room ambiance, the wider variety of food (for example, pesto and hummus served at meals and not just butter) and the quality of the food, the simpler shows, excellent service. If you don't feel like dressing for dinner, there are several other options, unlike on some other cruise lines. It was disappointing that Corsica and Sardegna ports were cancelled due to the very serious series of storms that hit. But the crew did an excellent job of keeping passengers informed of all events and changes, and showed real expertise and getting us into Nice instead of Monaco. (I agree with one reviewer who suggested that Azamara might offer more because of these cancellations than the extra credit if we booked another cruise while on board. We were not ready to plan another cruise yet but will in the next 1-2 years.) Summary: if you want a relaxed time with details handled by staff and don't need water slides, bumper cars, rock climbing walls... this is the cruise and cruise line for you.

A step below luxury by AzUnremarkable

Ship: Azamara Pursuit / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Azamara Pursuit was a reasonable ship now that it was renovated. Great list of ports, but poorly scheduled such that most towns had everything closed. Entertainment and late night food options were nonexistent.

We had a wonderful time on Azamara once again. This was the first white night we experienced and it was a lot of fun and the food was amazing. Captain Micheal was very entertaining and we looked forward to his daily announcements. by Alrightythen

We stayed a few night in Las Palmas pre-cruise to enjoy the city and beaches. Post cruise we stayed and Lisbon a few days to take in as much of the scenery, local cuisine and of course the drink…(wine, port etc.).

Bait and Switch! Don't Fall for it, like I did! by AKRVA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

I am supremely disappointed in my Azamara experience. I booked a cruise 2.5 weeks prior to departure. I booked the cruise directly with Azamara’s 800 number because it was so close to the departure date. We paid considerably more for the cruise than our friends because it was so close to the departure date, which is understandable and was acceptable. I was told by the booking agent on the phone that we would receive a $500 per person on board credit. The credit was never applied. On board the ship, the Pursuit, one customer relations rep, Marlon, told me it was my travel agent’s fault. I used Azamara to book it! Beyond that I was repeatedly read to from a script that stated if I couldn’t provide an OBC in writing that it would not happen because they had no proof and they required written proof. Basically, they assumed I was trying to get something I wasn’t promised or that I was an outright a liar. Customer Relations was very poorly trained. Is this a bait and switch tactic by Azamara? Our four friends with whom we cruised do not have an e-mail or anything in writing that reflects an OBC, they received their OBC credit. I had no illusion that the credit would happen. I do however wish it had been addressed in a more thoughtful or sincere manner. Their staff behaved a in an accusatory manner and it came off as a bait and switch… “pay the higher rate and in return we will reward you with this on board credit”. Since returning home 2 weeks ago, I have reached out to Azamara by e-mail and phone. I’ve had no success in getting any response from them. Again, a customer relations fail. I fell for it, don’t let it happen to you!

Great first cruise with Azamara. by BeachbumRob

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Our cabin quite comfortable. Food was great. Being on a smaller ship is the way to go. The country intensive cruises Azamara does are brilliant.

Fun and comfortable way to experience the F1 Monaco Grand Prix! by Jenx3989

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Pursuit

This was our very first cruise and overall we were very pleased with how comfortable it was and how friendly the staff were. The staff really made it very enjoyable for us! I was unfortunately disappointed that we never seemed to have any decent conversations with any of the other passengers though, even though most of them were F1 fans as well. They were mostly white. The British ones in particular were standoff-ish and never bothered to say hello, or if they did, it was in a very disinterested and curt way. Not very friendly at all. If it weren’t for the friendliness of the staff, it could have easily become a rather poor experience based on the snobby behaviour of the other passengers. But we were mostly busy going about in ports on excursions or at the F1 track, so we had a good time anyway. The White Night Party was held on the evening of race day and the ship stayed in the Monaco harbour for several hours during the party. So it was a beautiful and glamourous way to enjoy the views and have a great time in Monaco! It’s a lovely and very comfortable way to attend the Monaco Grand prix and travel in style!
