Ship: Azamara Pursuit

Cabin type: Oceanview

Review summary

The Azamara Pursuit was a reasonable ship now that it was renovated. Great list of ports, but poorly scheduled such that most towns had everything closed. Entertainment and late night food options were nonexistent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was OK. But why is there nowhere to get a meal after 9pm?

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
We had activities? All we really saw was bingo which at $50/card seemed like a scam.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Each night the band in the Living Room would draw a crowd. They'd call it a night, and then DJ Enzo would drive the passengers away. It was so bad some passengers grabbed speakers from their room and started playing their own music on deck.

Children's Programs

There were only 2 children on board. Most passengers were 65+.

Would probably be a great port if the departure time was later. None of the restaurants, museums or bars open till about 12:30pm. Boat departs port at 1pm. Might as well have skipped the port and taken a sea day

Leixoes (Oporto), Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal

Why would you try to have your big party ("White Night") on a Friday night in Lisbon? You can't call them "Destination Immersion Experiences" if you discourage passengers from leaving the boat. Have these parties on sea days when we're all bored.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

3 out of 5
Great spot with lots of history, but going into port on a Sunday was probably a mistake. Everything was closed. Especially given the next day was the Gibraltar National Day. It's not a "deep emersion" if you never get to see anything.

Almeria, Spain

Half the town is boarded up and up for sale. The only spot to see in town is a Moorish castle, which is closed on Mondays. Guess which day Azamara chose for this port?
