Review summary

This was a wonderful experience. It was so good we just booked another Azamara cruise.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It would have been much better had we been given directions to the correct place. Signage by the water bus/ water taxi stop would have kept us and others from wandering for 40 minutes. The only negative part of the trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We are mostly in the buffet and casual dining areas. The food was plentiful and delicious. The buffet always had vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free choices. I'm still dreaming about the no sugar added eclairs.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pool is small but was never crowded. There are 2 hot tubes. My husband liked the fitness center. We both enjoyed Trivia every afternoon we were aboard.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
This was our first cruise so I have nothing to compare them to. We loved the stage shows. The singing and dancing were great. The music was a bit loud for the venue. The cruise director, Eric de Gray, kept us in stitches with stories about his 'grandfather '.

Children's Programs

Our children are grown. This cruise line is definitely geared toward adults.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every single employee greeted us with a genuine smile and friendly comment every time we saw them. Every time we sat down we were offered a drink. Our room steward was amazing. The man checking us in and out for shore excursions made it a point to address each one of us by name. The Food and Beverage manager encouraged me to take eclairs to my room for later and we pretended like it was our secret. The captain greeted us every time we saw him. Awesome people!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always clean. Easy to find our way around. Always somewhere to sit and chat or enjoy the view.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We found the cabin to be just fine for our needs. The window had a great view. There was plenty of room for all of our things. I never used the over-the-door shoe holder I packed. Yes, I could brush my teeth while on the toilet, but it was not a big deal. I am a large woman a with the aid of shower magnets from Amazon we had plenty of room and no flooding.

Ship tip

Enjoy every minute. You chose wisely.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

4 out of 5
I love Venice. We arrived 5 days early to do Venice with family from Spain. I am not happy with the huge cruise ships visiting.,

Koper, Slovenia

3 out of 5
We did a ship excursion. It was pretty and we enjoyed our visit to the seaside town of Piran. We went up in the hills for tasting from local vendors. We don't drink wine so we didn't really have much to taste. The music was fun, though.

Korcula Island, Croatia

5 out of 5
We tendered here and explored on our own. It's quite walkable and very picturesque.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

4 out of 5
We hired a private driver because I wanted the scenic views but knew I could not climb the steps to the city walls. I'm glad we did. I have amazing photos. We then walked the flatter part of the old city on our own. It's truly beautiful.

Kotor, Montenegro

4 out of 5
Old town Kotor was a easy stroll from our midsize ship. It's rather compact but labyrinthine. It is hard to navigate, but that's okay. There are cats everywhere to admire.

Corfu, Greece

5 out of 5
This was our favorite. We did a ship excursion which gave us impressive photo ops of beaches, mountains and millions of olive trees. The hairpin turns and streets so narrow the bus driver had to fold in the side mirrors didn't seem to bother our driver at all. We had time to explore on our own after the tour.

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece Did not visit port

All offered excursions were lengthy and either involved wine or strenuous walking.

Nafplion (Nauplion), Greece

4 out of 5
Nauplion has a Hop On Hop Off bus than runs all summer and when cruise ships are in town. It takes you up to the ruins of an amazing fortress. Of course, you could always choose to climb the 999 steps instead!

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
Athens is heartbreaking. The ruins are fascinating, but when you get away from the hordes of tourists you see boarded up buildings and people sleeping on the sidewalk midday. 28% unemployment is not helped by tourism.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and easy.
