Review summary

Arvia is a beautiful ship and I would love to go on her again in the future. The staff are very nice but sometimes missing personal touches and they don’t seem to have the enthusiasm or energy that staff on other cruise lines have but over all an amazing holiday and we would definitely return.

Embarkation

Very fast once through to the terminal. We had to wait In a queue for a while before getting into the terminal but that was because we were early. If we had arrived on time we would have been through and onboard within 20 mins.

It would have been nice to have a turn down service on the evening so you come back to a nice fresh room after dinner on the evening like with other cruise lines. Overall a nice room and a lovely bathroom for a cruise ship.

Ship tip

Book any entertainment you really want to see when booking opens before embarkation.

Ports of call

Marseille (Provence), France

This was a nice stop not quite as nice as villefranche which we have done previously. And we had the rudest member of staff we have ever encountered at one of the restaurants there. She clearly didn’t want any cruisers at her restaurant and we left before even looking at the menu. I can’t even repeat the language she used when shouting at us and we had only approached the restaurant along the harbour. A restaurant further along however was a very different experience. Lovely staff and outstanding fresh fish dishes. The little road train was quite nice too.

La Coruna, Spain

Not much to do here. We went to a small aquarium which was nice and our young children enjoyed that but I wouldn’t get excited to see La coruna on a future cruise itinerary unfortunately.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise! I think other cruise lines have switched or are switching to doing the cabins once a day now, one of the many ways to try and cut down on costs and make back some of the money they lost
