Nice ship, passengers could be better by neiltravels2

This maybe my 5/6th cruise from Southampton all with different cruise lines. One thing in common though, your embarkation will be a trial and breakfast will be a battle. Same ships on Med cruises no such problems - conclusion, it's the people that sail from Southampton. Arvia is a lovely ship but the queue system and pre-booking is a pain in the backside (was the same on Anthem of the Seas out of Southampton). Longer cruises might be better as folk don't try to cram everything into a short cruise. P&O aim squarely at middle England cruisers and they attract them. They also need to watch their pricing as for a mainstream cruise line they are dangerously close to premium cruise line prices where you get much better bangs for your buck.

Arvia - France, Spain and Portugal. by BrysY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Arvia

We booked this cruise as a break and to try Arvia as it was the only ship in the fleet that we had not been on. We felt that very few of the tours offered held any appeal and the entertainment varied from excellent to poor but the service and food was excellent throughout which judging by some reviews that we have read is no longer always the case on P&O. Some great venues onboard but the experience has changed over the 13 years that we’ve been sailing with them. It certainly feels much less special if you remember the old days but it was an enjoyable break.

The app is a disaster. On your first day aboard go to the restaurants you want to book and reserve your tables

Book the speciality restaurants before you go. They fill up quickly. Put your preconceptions aside and try Green & Co - you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Try The Quays for fish and chips, Asian curry and Yorkshire pudding wraps - all free too. They also do breakfast - waffles and pancakes, fresh omelettes and full English (with fried bread)

The app for booking restaurants etc is there to help things run more efficiently but you don’t have to use it, you can go to the dining rooms and request a table - too many people were getting stressed out about it, personally I thought it was great
