The cruise was great, the ports enjoyable, the food amazing. But, for the Anthem to not take control of the situations that occurred from children in hot tubs. Also children who repeatedly disrespected the staff of the Anthem and nothing was done. It seemed as if the staff were afraid of what heir parents would say.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Perfect, they had everything thing under control
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Amazing food and the specialty restaurants fantastic
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pools horrible since you could never get a chair. For this size ship the outdoor pool is ridiculous. Parents do not watch their children and are very inconsiderate so they take over the hot tubs which children should not be in hot tubs and unfortunately the staff did not handle situations very well
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Entertainment was great. Aerosmith tribute amazing....We will Rock You terrific...Barricade Boys fantastic and Lucas was also fantastic.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
This would have received a 5 but I cannot give it due to Guest Services, I thought they were rude and actually looked down on their passengers. Now on the other hand your waiters, room stewards and especially their bar staff were outstanding, amazing and wonderful.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The layout of the Anthem was unimpressive to us. There was no glitz, no glamour and with everything spread out not enjoyable. It was though clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The overall room was fantastic, but pictures do make it look even larger. For a room considered a suite it was okay. The balcony was amazing. But, the room was so noisy at night it was unbearable to sleep at times
Ship tip
DON'T....unless you like a large ship and do not, repeat do not sail in January.
Thank you for your review. As far as the children go the parents have a responsibility also in controlling them and making the respectful to other passengers. We always try to avoid travel when there is going to be a lot of children as we are older and my husband walks with a cane and not steady on his feet. In the buffet it is especially bad with children running all over and he worries about tripping over them. It sounds like for the most part you did enjoy.
This review seems conflicting. You seem to have had a great time but then say don’t cruise this ship or in January. Parents not controlling children is an issue everywhere, not just on cruise ships. And You are correct in that the staff is probably afraid to correct the children or say anything to the parents since it will cause a conflict and they will get bad ratings from those people. If you want a cruise with fewer or no children, try Crystal, Symphony, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas, Viking or cruises of 10 days or longer when school is in session.
