We chose this cruise mainly because we could drive to the port, rather than having to book airfare. The money we saved on airfare, we were able to cruise for 12 days instead of 7. Our first cruise was Royal Caribbean on the Explorer of the Seas, and then we tried Princess line, and really didn't find it as on par with Royal Caribbean cruise line. We liked this cruise enough and this ship enough to book another cruise before we got off from this cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was pretty straight forward. This cruise we happened to have someone that needed wheel chair assist, so we waited a few extra minutes to get on, but the staff was just so helpful.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Not so much of a variety of options in the MDR and some dishes offered weren't exactly up my alley. Chops grill is superb. We dined twice there and already booked again to eat there on our next cruise. It is a win, win every time with windjammer, because there is such a variety, it hits on every level. We ate one dinner at the bistro and loved it. Jamie's Italian, we were not impressed that much. I really loved the hot dogs at the doghouse too.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I did the I-fly and being in the 60 plus age group, I found out that I have sore muscles in places I didn't know existed! It was a fun experience though. Pools and hot tubs were never that crowded, however, a chair by the outdoor pool was indeed hard to come by, unless you staked one out at 4am.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We will rock you , the gift, and Beatles tribute were top notch performances. The journey tribute band sounded as if I was there seeing them for real.
Children's Programs
We were on an adult vacation.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Very attentive staff. Room steward met all needs that were asked for. Bartenders were very polite, and our waiter in the MDR was very entertaining. I took the full ship tour and our guide was a real hoot.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
5 stars for cleanliness, but had to go to 4 stars for ship design, for being "top heavy" as I call it. Ship bobs around a bit in what seems to be not that rough of waters.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Average size for balcony room. Good shower, easy to use. Room enough for 2 on the balcony. Found the bed very comfortable and our room steward made sure everything was neat and tidy.
Ship tip
Always read your cruise compass front to back to make sure you don't miss out on things.
We had a wheelchair assist and there was an over abundance of others needing the same. It took an extremely long time to get off the ship. But, once we got the wheel chair and the very helpful deckhand, we were out to our car and quickly and easily on our way.
What a great review! We did the same thing, our first cruise was on Explorer of the Seas. Then we went on a smaller Norwegian cruise ship. Can't wait to get back on Royal Caribbean! So glad you enjoyed your vacation 🌴🍹
