Review summary

We loved Anthem of the Seas. We will cruise on this ship again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at the port a couple hours early. They allowed us to check in, then had as sit in a holding area. We expected to wait longer but they had us on earlier than anticipated.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food, as always, was fantastic. The MDR was always delicious. We ate dinner there most nights. I especially recommend the pork tacos and French onion soup. During lunch in the MDR, you can choose to either order from their menu or pick the buffet, which had a fantastic salad bar and many main course options. The Windjammer has a great breakfast, but we don’t eat lunch or dinner there, typically

Boleros

Beautiful! Lovely music and singers. This is a great place to grab a drink and dance.

Jamie's Italian

5 out of 5

Easily some of the most delicious food I have tasted! The carbonara is impeccable and all of the appetizers were mouth-watering. The tiramisu is the outstanding!

The Café@TWO70

The Cuban sandwiches are delicious. I ate there multiple times for lunch.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw incredible performances! The Gift was odd at first, but once you understood what was happening, it was great! We Will Rock You was really good and we enjoyed the music and the amazing guitarist, Joy. The Aerosmith cover band, Pandora’s Box, was FANTASTIC and many passengers commented they went to all their performances.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always fantastic! Great room attendant, bar staff and waiters.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
They are always cleaning! I never saw a messy area! The layout on Anthem is unique and we really enjoyed it!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
These rooms are shaped differently than other rooms we have stayed in. They are longer and not as wide. It didn’t feel smaller, though. The room was always clean. I like the glass shower doors. I was also impressed with the amount of storage available. We had ample room to hang our clothes, as there were 2 closets.

Ship tip

Don’t be afraid to talk to people on this ship. We made friends with a few different couples and continue to talk to them, even may book a future cruise with some of them. Also, arrive early to any activities in smaller locations, such as trivia in the Schooner bar. Those seats tend to fill up quickly!

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Labadee was much better than we anticipated! It is a beautiful area. I cannot stress enough to bring water shoes. It is very rocky, unless you go to the very end of the beach. Lunch was provided by the cruise line. There isn’t much shade so if you want a nice shady spot, get there early.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

4 out of 5
Absolutely beautiful and clean! That being said, it is also VERY pricey. Expect to spend money there for anything and everything.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
San Juan is lovely. I recommend booking an excursion here. The old fort is interesting and hauntingly beautiful.

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Beautiful beaches and people. The Guavaberry daiquiri is delicious! Take the water taxi ($7/person round-trip) and go shopping or stay on the beach. For $20, we got 2 beach chairs, an umbrella, WiFi, and 2 free drinks each.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy disembarkation. We had maybe a 20 minute line. It went quicker than anticipated.
