Anthem of the Seas

7 Night Bahamas (Cape Liberty Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 23, 2019

Ship: Anthem of the Seas

Cabin number: 11250

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

When entering the ship we were approached by someone trying to sell us the various packages available. During lunch and dinner people also tried to sell us packages. I do not want to listen to sail pitches upon entering the ship and especially at meals. Poor customer service. Twice we were sent from one place to another and told different things by different people. Main dinning room menu should be totally changed daily!

Embarkation

Embarkation was OK.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dinning room was terrible. Very few changes on the menu day to day. Mashed potatoes, 2 slices of carrots and a broccoli floweret each day on our plates. Other places to eat on the ship were better. Good Pizza and hotdogs, very large buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not enough room in various venues to see some of the entertainers. Bon Jovi tribute band played the first few nights.....one would have been enough. The singers in the shows were AMAZING!

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Our waiters were good and so was our room steward. Very friendly. The head waiter did not come by our table for the first couple of days and when we asked him a question he actually spoke to someone else, walked away and never returned. When entering the main dinning room it was a free for all finding a table. No one came over to escort us to our seats......never experienced this before. Poor customer service. Was sent to several places and told different things at each place.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our cabin was a good size and had great storage. The sofa was rock hard! The mattress was also very hard. Great bathroom and shower. The room was very clean.

Ship tip

Skip the main dinning room and eat at one of the other free restaurants.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

This was the reason we booked this cruise, to tour Nasa. We were delayed getting into port due to a medical emergency. There should have been alternate plans for this port. We ended up just staying on the ship. The cruise line could have offered a shuttle to Nasa so we could at least get a chance to see it and take a shorter tour. Most people did stay on the ship.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

1 out of 5
The island will be beautiful WHEN COMPLETE. Not enough chairs on the beach. Beautiful pool (but I don't go to the Caribbean to sit by a pool). Lots of construction noise. Umbrella stands did not come in yet so there was a problem with some of them staying in the sand. We were not told this island was not finished when we booked it. Very misleading!

Nassau, Bahamas

Stayed on the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We only had carry on luggage so we just walked off the ship.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

So a medical emergency was the cruise lines fault? Maybe they should have let the person in dire need wait for help. I mean, it was Nassa after all. Furthermore, you knew Cococay was under construction when you booked this cruise. I am all for constructive criticism but this is over the top.

Bin on Royal Caribbean many times and my experience is the complete opposite of what you are talking about and if they are trying to sell you something just say no thanks and walk away they won’t bother

What's a dinning room?

I will be sailing in July. It will be my first time sailing a Quantum class ship, and I am hoping for the best time I can have. I have seen A LOT of videos on YouTube about this ship and the experiences other people have shared, and I am very sorry about your experience with the MDR. I have never seen the staff escort us to our tables. Perhaps you should have gone to the Solarium Bistro or one of the other specialty restaurants. Hope you will sail again though.

We were on the Anthem last September and loved it! No one tried to sell us packages.

😔 that’s disappointing. Sailing Anthem for the first time in May. It’s our first RC cruise in 10 years. Hoping for the best!
