Review summary

This was a wonderful cruise even though the weather was not that great. The scenery, history, architecture and people in each port made the trip quite enjoyable. This is one we would do again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The whole process went really fast and very well. Fastest embarkation we have EVER done.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in main dining room was not that great. Food in the Windjammer was quite good, lots of variety, nice presentation, and quite plentiful. Shakes at Johnny Rockets a little too loose but tasty. Hot dog cart hotdogs not quite hot enough and didn't have chips, but they did have cold beer. Grab and go food areas were great for quick snacks. Specialty restaurants are main dining at an extra cost. Sucks that room service is $8.00 ALL the time.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
While there were lots of on board activities we didn't do any of these things, off the ship when in ports. The outside movies were fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Interesting, entertaining, and out of the ordinary.

Children's Programs

No children!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
For the most part service personnel were great, however the staff in Michael's could/should take a refresher course. I went to Michael's to watch a game and the waiter walked past me 20+ times and NEVER ask me if I wanted to order a drink or anything else but others around were served. Go to Bolero's for drinks.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship layout and design is very well done. Common areas were always clean and very well maintained. My only negative regarding common areas relates to the ladies rooms with the self flushing toilets that usually flushed too soon. The hand washing areas in the Windjammer are a wonderful idea, you should always wash before eating.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was nice, however this was THE WORSE bed I have ever slept/tried to sleep on. The room attendant tried to help by adding a comforter, still felt like sleeping on a slab.

Ship tip

If this is your first time, be prepared to be wowed. The ship is beautiful with lots to do, the ports have sooo much to offer. Main piece of advice, relax, enjoy, and have fun!

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Fantastic place to visit. Definitely go to the aquarium, wonderful! If you can't decide where to go or what to do check out the Hop On Hop Off bus. Take the complete route, It gives you an overall view of main hot spots, then go where you want to do/see, cheaper than taking taxis which are not always honest.

Portland, Maine

3 out of 5
How much is too much to pay for a lobster roll?

Bar Harbor, Maine

4 out of 5
Beautiful scenery, interesting architecture, wonderful history.

Saint John, New Brunswick

4 out of 5
Light houses galore, maritime history, interesting architecture. Reversing rapid is definitely something to see.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
This place was very interesting. The sad history of the Africans that tried to settle there along with Nova Scotia's own devasting tragedy make it a nice place to visit, especially if you like history.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Because of an early flight we did Self Carry and was off the ship by 8am.

Can’t wait. We are doing Anthem in March. First time on her. We have done NCL and Carnival before

Just curious why only 3 stars then?

And hopefully, a repeat of the same cruise will be on better weather conditions. Good luck!
