Review summary

Overall, a fun and enjoyable cruise; interesting ports w/great seafood at the ports ... not as cold as expected; large ship with lots to do; had a great time!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy onboarding experience at Cape Liberty NJ terminal

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Windjammer buffet food quality was very good, but main dining room food was so so (over cooked, not hot); did not try specialty restaurants due to extra costs, but they might have been a better choice over the main dining rooms

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of onboard activities on the Anthem -- kept everyone happily busy during at sea days

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Good shows in the evening, but not quite as good as some other RC ships; some of the bands were great, some were so so ... all in all though lots of music opportunities from piano bar to guitar music to danceable bands.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room stewards were awesome! Some of the service personnel though, like at the casino and the Schooner Bar, were not very friendly or customer service oriented.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean ship

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the balcony and it was plenty big enough for two people for 9 days

Ship tip

This is a very large ship with 4,000 guests - be prepared for crowds, but the ship crew was very good at moving people quickly during on and off boarding at ports. For the final off-boarding back at Cape Liberty though, be prepared for long, slow lines at customs

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Did not take a ship excursion; took the hop on hop off bus available to the public - good tour

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5
Took the ship's Highlights and Lighthouse excursion - excellent tour guide and enjoyed a wonderful lobster roll at the lighthouse

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Did not take a ship excursion; tendered directly to pier in town and enjoyed a lobster bake at the Bar Harbor Inn right on the water near the pier area

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
Took the ship's St John & Bay of Fundy Top 10 excursion - fantastic tour guide - great tour, great stops

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Took the ship's Big Pink Hop On/Off bus excursion - excellent way to see and hear about the city; then walked the boardwalk and at great seafood

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Long lines at custom with only a few custom personnel - not sure that's the ships fault, but DHS should have more personnel on hand for a 4,000 people trying to disembark
