Review summary

Ok this is my first cruse and maybe anthem was a big ship to start with but even thor it is a big ship I found there was not a great deal do do if the sun was not out. The problem wad most of the trip wad in fog or it was not hot enough to enjoy the pool. But the staff was brilliant and the food wad very good they go out of there way to help you and make the most of your cruse. Disappointed in the shops not a great range and we are not all millionaires on board. Booked not star 3 times and every time was cancelled due to weather, and did not understand why all the free restaurant had the same menu.. apart from winjammer that was the best free place to eat. The ports were ok but Portland and halifax was dull and if you never booked a excursion it was to expensive and far to do anything.. especially Portland, 50 dollars a hour taxi ride and 2 hours to bay of Bundy. Went whale watching in halifax booked excursion and all we saw was birds, My favourite stop was bar harbour amazing place lots of great shops. Disembarking was bad did not get off till 11am when was booked for 930am and we had to wait in royal theatre.

I've sailed on Anthem three times since October of 2016, and am booked for December 14th of this year. Absolutely love Anthem of the Seas and all that she has to offer. it's only a two-hour drive for us to get to Cape Liberty versus 45 minutes to get to Baltimore and Grandeur of the Seas. But I'll still take the two-hour drive just be on an Anthem, it's an experience in itself!

Menus are always the same in all included dining rooms/restaurants on all ships and all cruise lines.

Not a good first cruise experience at all! May I recommend a 5-day Caribbean as a second chance? or the Burmudas? Something warmer, less fog. Oh, and a smaller ship.

Sorry that you didn't enjoy your trip as much as you would have liked. I did Anthem in August. It was my first cruise and I would change nothing! We are already planning our next cruise. I thought the ship had tons to do! We had great weather though. I don't think I would ever take a cruise unless it was in the summer with warm weather. I never even went in the shops because I knew beforehand how expensive they would be. The main store should lower their prices a little. We waited until things went on sale. We got some pretty good deals!
