Review summary

The cruise was wonderful.   The food in the restaurants (we used both complimentary and specialty) was very good.   DON'T MISS WONDERLAND, it was a great experience.   The staff was responsive and very glad to help.    We went to customer service twice for a couple of questions and waited in line less than 5 minutes.      We have travelled on many of the bigger ships (Oasis and Allure) and found this ship was just different; not as open as the others.   Someone explained the Anthem was a 'cold weather ship' vs the Oasis and Allure that are both 'warm weather ships'.   That made sense and explained why it was designed differently.      Getting on and off the ship was a breeze.    Really liked the persons who were identified as agents vs. standing in line.

Cabin was very accessible being right off the elevator. Room layout was good and the extended balcony was a plus.

Ship tip

We booked everything in advance except for the 5 night dining package we had purchased. However on the first day we went to every restaurant and booked what we wanted. Don't miss the Northstar! Fantastic view.

Were you able to get all of the complimentary restaurants and times you wanted when you went on the first day to schedule them for those five nights? I begin booking all our activities and dining 75 days out and I was very limited in early dining times in the complimentary restaurants. I am hoping to be able to get some earlier dining times on the nights that we do not have dinner yet booked.

That is a great way to describe it! I personally like the covered Pools because I don't need to apply sunscreen.

Anthem a "cold weather" ship. Hadn't heard that before but good to know. I cruised on her in April and your description is perfect, "different".
