Review summary

The anthem is a beautiful ship but far too big, seniors for the most part  get around the ship with the motor power.  The food is good and especially good in the up charge Restaurants .   I Highly recommend Wonderland, worth the up charge and is something you will remember for a long long time.  The handicapped areas in the  Theater are bar none the best.  Getting on board with the new Bayonne terminal and parking garage is the best ever.  Last day we were out of our cabin @ 6:30AM down to deck 5 WITH ON waiting for the elevator, escorted with wheelchair assistance @ 7AM out and thru the terminal down the elevator got our bag with no problems, thru customs and NO ONE was there.  We were escorted wheel chair and porter to the side of the parking garage bags in car and out the parking garage @ 7:30AM.  On the turnpike and home by 8:40AM.  There were a lot of very good things about the ship but I found that being so big some of the personal touches are not there.  Every thing on this ship is about money.

nice size. Bathroom was ok but for a suite and the money and considering you are a couple and probably seniors why would you wand to try to struggle to get into a bath tub to shower. I really liked the size of the NCL's Haven much more and there is a bathroom to die for. Don't feel bad Anthem, they are just trying to pack as many passengers into a ship without considering the comfort of said passengers

Ship tip

RCCL needs to start considering the comfort of the passengers. This is a Smart ship and still has it's problems.

I have been on several cruises and I am booked to go on anthem of the Seas February of next year only because it leaves out of Bayonne originally booked princess which is my favorite Cruise Line my favorite ship of all is the Caribbean which is the Princess ship it was a big ship but it offers a lot plus the cabins are big that's my one big gripe the new ships now the cabins are so small so they can fit more people princess cabins seem to be bigger and accommodate better they also offer a lot of activities they were the first ones to introduce the big screen TV by the pools and cold movie Under the Stars and had great movies the food was great too I'm only saying this because based on all the comments I am reading about this ship anthem of the Seas it's kind of scaring me I am traveling with my two grandchildren ages 5 and 3 and my son and his wife and it is costing a lot of money I'm only hoping I did the right thing but booking this Cruise instead of princess I did hear you spend a lot of money on Royal Caribbean for extra things on the ship which I don't recall the other Cruise Lines doing the only thing I really am saving on is airfare which could end up costing me the same based on everything extra you have to pay for on anthem of the Seas

If those RCC class ships aren't "fun" enough for you, why not sail on one of the Oasis class ships? I have never been on the Quantum class ships and is looking forward to sailing the Anthem since it's close to home and I wouldn't have to fly to(although I would if I have to), I am the type of person who likes to judge for myself. And I have said this before, to pay all the money you pay, you should make it your business to have a great time no matter what.

Maybe you just got the wrong ship. The original poster actually liked the food.

My favorite RC ship so far is the Explorer of the Seas ... Great personality

Royal is a great line...the other class ships offer a great experience...This class ship just is really really different..it lacks that party atmosphere the promenade on other class ships offer as well as limited activities by the pool because of lack of room. It just wasn't designed for that stuff unfortunately...I love cruising no matter what, but when I travel on a Quantum class ship, I change my old ways of thinking and enjoy what it has to offer...but the ship lacks personality for sure...

Amen will never cruise Royal Caribbean again the food was horrible entertainment was horrible but nothing going on on the decks they didn't accommodate people like they should have and it was all about jewelry stores there was like three jewelry stores that was on the ship in like 3 or 4 Pub bars one dance hall 1 Latino Hall and they were like nothing going on really I enjoy Carnival better than any ship I've ever been on it's a fun ship that have entertainment dancing on the deck this was my first time on Royal Caribbean and it will be the last
