I don't think I would ever do this cruise again. It might just be me. I might not be a cruise person. I felt very claustrophobic on the ship. It was sooooooo crowded everywhere we went. I was with my 82 year old mother and had to wait for elevators with her which was unbearable. They were so full all the time. Most of the time, I would send her on the elevator so she could squeeze in and I would climb the stairs and wait for her. Most of the activities were too crowded to participate in as well and the constant staff request for reviews was just way too much. I'm flying to Hawaii next time so I can relax.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Not bad at all since we had a late embarkation time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The dining rooms were ok. The food was average. The service was great on one night but subpar on others. A little turned off by the staff constantly interrupting us to make sure we left a good review of their service.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Everything was way too crowded to enjoy. The pool was packed and most of the pools and jacuzzi's closed much too early making the others even more crowded. We played bingo one day but there were only 3 games and they were EXPENSIVE! The diving show as great! Mama Mia was pretty good as well. The karaoke nights were often too crowded to find a spot to sit and participate.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The diving show as great! Mama Mia was average. I do feel that it could have been shorter. We left after the intermission.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff and service were pretty good but the constant request for ratings (and tips) were just too much!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The design and cleanliness were ok.
Cabin / Stateroom

I had a balcony overlooking Cental Park. I really wish I had opted for the Boardwalk view as there was a slight ocean view. I felt claustrophobic and it was VERY loud outside the balcony. I really wanted an ocean view but the ocean view balconies were not available when I booked my trip. I do feel that this is a game changer. Definitely get the ocean view balcony of you can.
Ship tip
Get the ocean view balcony if you can. Stay away from the Central Park balcony.
Took a LONG time to get off the ship with very long lines. If I ever did it again, I would just wait until they tell me to leave the ship after everyone else has gotten off.
Something’s definitely wrong if you don’t enjoy the Allure. The Allure was the last cruise we took before COVID . It was one of our best cruises and we’ve been on 10 s and we loved them all. The Allure is beautiful, delicious food, fantastic shows , and great ports . The staff is wonderful.
Elevators are always crowded, and you have to pack patience. I have a daughter who uses a wheelchair and there were so many times we couldn't ride as they were too full or people passed us in line to jump on. Funny as able bodied people can take the stairs, wheelchair users can not. I'd never cruise during peak season either.
I don't think it's just you. I was very unimpressed with rcl. I was on freedom of the seas. beds were awful, food was terrible, elevators didn't work most the time, don't even get me started on the service. I walked off and couldn't belive i paid that much for a cruise (which they scammed me out an additional $1500) in the first place. only time I would even consider cruising with them again, somebody pays for me
Thanks for sharing your cruise experience. Cruising is not for everyone. If you do try to cruise again, choose one of the smaller ships. We love the Oasis class ships, but also loved sailing on Brilliance, Adventure and Mariner. We can find more quiet spaces on the smaller ships, they feel less crowded and everything seems to be at a slower pace during the cruise. Enjoy your next vacation!
Appreciate your feedback. Summer is one of the busiest time to sail (Spring Break,
Thanksgiving & Christmas are the others). You might want to try off season. Cruising isn’t for everyone. Glad you gave it a try.
