Ship: Allure of the Seas

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 12727

Review summary

We will not cruise on a ship of this class or with RC again. We'd prefer to pay more up front than be nickel and dimed all week.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining food was only okay. The specialty dining restaurant food was significantly better, but at a significant cost and reservations were difficult or impossible to get. Why serve sub par food and call it "included"? How about all food is included and is all stellar?

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The Solarium pool is too small for the size of the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
No consistency of the schedule. We would find something we liked one night, only to find it wasn't happening in that same bar or lounge the next night. What we saw was good (adult kareoke, piano player) but there were never enough seats for those who wanted to be there.

Cabin / Stateroom

We won't stay in one again. Too close to the rooms across the Boardwalk. The cabin wasn't particularly clean either (dusty).

Ship tip

Know what you are getting and what you will need to pay extra for. Get specialty reservations early if you want quality food. The cruise price isn't really what you will pay for the week. To get good food you'll need to dine at the specialty restaurants. Stay away from the Windjammer Buffet. That place was a nightmare!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Very impoverished. The port isn't close to the areas that are safe/beautiful to visit.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We will travel here again.

Cozumel, Mexico

Covid wasn't kind to this city. Lots of empty stores.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Three hour delay, misinformation on where we needed to go or what we were supposed to do. No organization by the ship employees. No communication. No transportation options once off the ship and nobody cared.
