We had a very nice cruise. The ship is a great ship, lots of space to move around. The food was good to very good, except buffet. Entertainment was OK, activities lacking. I did not like that they put us at the same table every night in the MDR. We do like variety and that's why we chose not to do the fixed dining time. But they kinda made it like that. We prefer another cruise line with their dining style. Overall, we will cruuse RCCL again and we do have one booked for 2024, but we really prefer a different line better, and currently have 2 future cruises booked on their ships. Bottom line, is that everyone has their own likes and dislikes. We have cruised on CCL, RCCL, & NCL. We only like 2 out of the three. I will let you guess which one we do not like.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
No major issues, just very long process. Too mang check points, and at each, we're told to put away certain documents as they will not be needed any more, only to find they again were needed for review at next checkpoint. No big deal, it took about 2 hours from when we got in line to get on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was good in the MDR. Very good in the specialty restaurants. Buffet OK. The o e time we ate at Johnny Rockets for breakfast, our English muffins came out TOTALLY untoasted. Right out of the package... cold. WTH ?
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Shows were good. Not many other activities that were fun. Did the Zip line once. OK.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Oops, mentioned entertainment on previous comment. Was OK. The Aqua theater was really good, saw that like 3 times.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
No complaints here at all. Everyone was great.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Was very clean and well kept. Easy to get around. Very big, so lots of walking.... good for the calorie burning after meals 😀
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Pictures are views from our cabin 10329 AFT. Very long walk to get to and from. But very nice location for viewing. Cabin was a bit on the small size, but for two was adequate. I prefer bigger cabins and bigger balconies. Was very clean and not overly abused.
Ship tip
If you Like balconies, get one overlooking water, not interior, and middle of ship. Middle is not recommended because of ship movement. That was not a problem in our aft room, but because of distance everytime I went to get a drink, or coffee, or whatever it was such a long walk. It was nice sitting on the balcony watching the Aqua show at night.
We love St. Thomas. We rented a jeep for the day and did our own thing. The Allure, because of its size I think, had to dock in the west side of the bay, over by the airport. Not where all the other ships dock, and where most of the action is. We had to shuttle over to Rent-A-Motion for our jeep instead of just walking to its location. Oh well no big deal.
We did not do any excursions, but just walked around Old San Juan. Very nice, and felt very safe. If you like to shop, not that great of a place for that.
Another place we're we did not do an excursion. But we did take the boat shuttle to the main shoping and beach area. Very nice there. Did a few drinks, and local stores. Beach is also very nice and clean. The locals were very nice and friendly. Always felt safe there also.
Did not like that so many areas were extra. We got a cabana, and it was nice, but was in the water park, and kinda off on its own. To far away from the action. Next time, will just do the areas included in fhe cost. Food not that good there. Overcooked and dry.
Was very smooth and quick until I got to where my luggage should have been. One was not. Took about an hour to find it. I still rated this 5, because I don't think this was the cruise line's fault. Just happy we found it.
