Review summary

For the first time, I was less than impressed.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Paid for "The Key" and they did not escort me onto the ship as promised and did not tell me that the specialty dining ended at 1:30 when I could board as late as 3:30-4pm.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was pretty good but the main dining room was only good on the second captain's night. It wasn't special because you could get the same stuff in the Windjammer.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
I utilized the fitness center and the jogging track. The pools were always pretty crowded and again with "The Key"...they were slated for special times for those members to do certain activities without waiting but that was not at convenient times because who is going to do Flowrider at 8am in the morning? Not practical times.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The times were a little inconvenient if you wanted to watch certain shows. As a result, I missed a few things because I couldn't get to them in time.

Children's Programs

I have no children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They were accommodating with the exception of one person, Olan, who was the assistant manager for the bars. His rudeness, I did not like. His supervisor was able to resolve the issue with the activity (Mojito & something) which was showing on the app as a free activity until we got there and it was not free. For someone with a drink package it would cost $15 and if not $25. Why would ANYONE pay for this activity, especially if they already have a drink package and can just go get a drink?! It made absolutely no sense. Again, nickel and diming people unnecessarily.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
They were clean and well maintained but in terms of design and how "BIG" it's supposed to be, I wasn't all that impressed honestly.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I loved this part of it but, that's because I was the only one in there. If there had been another adult, it would have been cramped for sure. But, I enjoyed listening to the sea at night and sitting out on the balcony when we would port.

Ship tip

Don't...not worth the money unfortunately. Do Disney!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
It's where I embarked and disembarked.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Beautiful island and enjoyable excursion...I did the 4X4 Jeep Excursion. That was super enjoyable.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

2 out of 5
I wish we had more time here but because of the propeller issue they cut off the time there but had full day time at their private island were you were charged TOP dollar for everything, of course!

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

2 out of 5
It was extremely hot but the excursions were expensive. I paid for the jet skis and right before we were supposed to go out, there was an accident with someone on it and our time was cut down because of it.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
This was THE ONLY THING that "The Key" came through on. I was escorted off the ship and spoken to directly. This was the one and only time that "The Key" gave me what it promised.

If you have been on cruises before you would know that the alcohol tasting events are never free even with drink packages. Seems to me like you did not do your research on the key which ended up not being very valuable for you. Which is also why it seems you rated many things lower than had you not purchased it.

I had the Key on my last cruise and they never promised to escort you onto the ship. I also got a letter that told me what the benefits were, what times, etc. And a room being cramped for two people? I’m smelling a fake review here...

I dont know how much you or if there were two of you paid for the key. My wife and I always stay in a suite. We get all of those amenities except flowrider designated time and if you watch. There is plenty of times you dont have to wait long to ride it. We enjoy eating all meals in The Coastal Kitchen, first off at all stops, embark and disembark first or when ever you want. Special reserved seating at all shows. Maybe look at the suites next time.
