Review summary

This was the second consecutive 7 night trip with a different itinerary. We have always wanted to do consecutive or back to back cruises. It was AWESOME!! We definitely recommend it if you are interested and able to do consecutive cruises. It allows you to be more relaxed and able to enjoy things at your pace, rather than feeling like you have to go do something or you will miss out.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food and service were excellent. We ate in the buffet most nights, but had a good dinner in the dining room with excellent food. Johnny Rockets was a nice change of pace with an excellent sundae. The park cafe was a very nice alternative for breakfast and lunch. One small complaint was, what we called “cup night” for desert in the buffet. This is when they offered only deserts in cups such as mouse and pudding type deserts. No cake or pie on these nights. Would have preferred a mix of both every night.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Zip line, ping pong, basketball and volleyball were all good. Mini golf could be better.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Blue Planet was excellent. Momma Mia was good. Aqua theater, Oceanaria was excellent. Comedians were above average, not bad.

Children's Programs

No kids on this trip.

Service and Staff

Our room steward Demetri from Ukraine was awesome. Our limited experience with bar staff was very good. The wait staff in the dining room was very good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our third 7 night trip on the Allure and the ship design is unparalleled. In my opinion it is next to impossible to get lost on the huge ship. Overall the ship was clean and acceptable, but if you looked closely in some areas, you can see why it is time to be “amped” in 2020. Hopefully they will replace some worn carpet and furniture.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our boardwalk view balcony was excellent as usual. We love getting one of the last one or two boardwalk balconies toward the back of the ship. From these, you can see the activity on the boardwalk, the aqua theater shows AND you still have a view of the ocean and ports/land. We think it is the best of both! The only drawback is the lack of privacy in the room while the curtains are open. But, if you want privacy, simply close the curtains.

Ship tip

To avoid lines for breakfast, go to the solarium which has a nice buffet, of the Park Cafe, which has a decent variety but not a full buffet.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Love sailing out of Miami! The new RC terminal is great, with the exception of the traffic pattern. I don’t understand how they could design the traffic pattern to “bottleneck” around the curve!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
