Review summary

We went to Cozumel, Mexico twice, Costa Maya, Mexico and Falmouth, Jamaica. All were great. Overall a very fun cruise. All the accommodations were nice to have on sea days and there was always activities to do.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We had a great time and everyone working on the boat was friendly except for the bartender in the casino from the Dominican Republic. He was extremely rude an to me, my wife and other customers. Other than that it was awesome.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All the food was awesome. The servers were all attentive and the food tasted great in the main dining room. Izumi, Giovanni's and the one in the solarium (I can't remember the name) were all delicious and well worth the money. Izumi was definitely my favorite.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools and hot tubs were great other than being crowded. I wish there was another pool in the adult area and not just the small one.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Ocean Aria was amazing. The acrobats/divers were incredible to watch. Blue Planet was underwhelming and didn't seem worth going to after we went. The Madagascar show used the same acrobats as ocean aria so it was also amazing.

Children's Programs

Don't have kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The room stewards were all polite and made sure to say hello every time they saw us. Waiters in the main dining and specialty dining were all attentive and polite and made sure to answer any questions. My only complaint is the bartender from the Dominican Republic in the casino with the beard and Mohawk. He was extremely rude and talked down to customers, not just me but also my wife and other patrons as they waited at the bar.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I really liked the layout of the main area on the fifth floor. It was nice to have almost everything in one area and made all the shows and restaurants easy to get to.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was awesome. The patio is awesome to sit on and drink coffee in the morning. The rooms are small but it's expected.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Easy to navigate and well taken care of.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

San Juan, Puerto Rico Did not visit port

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy. Just a long line.

We have only seen the punch card available for purchase on the last few days of a cruise. I think we had four days to go on a 9 day cruise when it became available. It was still a nice option. I don't know if it would cover Starbucks because we didn't try it there. As far as the beverages available I agree I think the selection on Royal is very nice always a tea and refreshing lemonade or some other fruit drink. If you only want an occasional cappuccino in the morning you might try to get that at the Windjammer for no charge. You have to ask the person servicing the drink area. I don't know if that's available on All Ships though; we noticed this on Jewel of the Seas on a Mediterranean cruise but never noticed it on 3 Freedom of the Seas cruises. It's hard to imagine how they would be able to do that on an Oasis class ship though, considering the volume of Cruisers but I am going to add asking the question during our upcoming Allure of the Seas cruise.

I read that on a blog but then someone told me the punch card can only be purchased the last 3 days of the cruise. I’ve not confirmed that info yet...

So you can purchase the liquor punch card on the Allure of the Sea?

Seaskypeace    7 years ago

Yes, Tks. So excited. Our cruise was cancelled do to Irma., after all the running around & cleaning up, we're tired & need it. Truly blessed to be able to go. So many affected by the hurricanes have nothing. Prayers must continue for the whole world 🙏🏼

Just keep in mind none of the drink packages covers Starbucks.

Yeah, I like the occasional drink but the package wouldn’t help me. I read on a blog that once onboard you can buy a liquor punch card- 10 drinks for $70... I’ll give it a try on my Nov cruise!

I don't drink coffee but my husband does. I will tell him. I don't think the liquor package is for us either. Together we have around 5 drinks a day.

dunahoot217    7 years ago

They are! Btw, if you like the specialty coffee drinks, there is a package for 15 specialty coffees for $31. Thought this was a great alternative :)

Seaskypeace    7 years ago

Great, thank you so much, those packages are confusing.

dunahoot217    7 years ago

Coffee is free... specialty coffee (lattes, cappuccino, etc is not). I believe juice is free during breakfast but I’ve been on both cruises and Royal offers more: coffee, tea, flavored water, lemonade and then juice for breakfast

Question re: coffee & juice if you can help us. Is the only way to drink those two by having the package? We usually do Carnival & those two are free.
