Review summary

This was our second cruise on the Allure in eight months, which is not something that we usually do.  The ship is generally quite comfortable and beautiful.  We still love the neighborhoods, especially Central Park.  Our cabin was in the same class and general location - Deck 12 toward the rear stairs.  I found the location less convenient this time than I did in August - maybe because the cooler weather in April led me to stay indoors a little more.  The big disappointment was the food in the main dining room.  The specialty restaurant food was quite good, but the main dining room food (and even more so the Windjammer food) was boring, bland and just simply not all that appealing.  I should not have to spend another $115 per person for a specialty restaurant package to get food that is up to standards.  (For comparison, the main dining room food on lowly Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line was far better than the main dining room food on this cruise.)  Service is the dining room for My Time Dining was uneven and chaotic.  And tables are jammed in everywhere - we sat literally right next to the waiter's service station twice.  Dinner was spoiled by all of their bickering and yammering, not to mention the noise involved in service.  I might have to give another line a try because Royal Caribbean's galley simply did not deliver on this cruise.

Ship experiences

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Outdoor activities were the usual ones,, and this ship was so many facilities like the rock climbing, zip lining, etc. Indoor activities, other than trivia, often involved someone trying to sell something, which is annoying.

Comfortable - spacious enough - although it lacked draw and closet space. Good steward. Convenient location, especially for the Boardwalk and Central Park.

Ship tip

If you want to try the specialty restaurants but don't want to spend the money for dinner, several of them have special lunch menus on sea days for a lower fee.

Why would you go on this ship for the second time it sounds like you like the smaller ships

I had a great experience in the dining room, but we had the scheduled early dining and it was great. If we didn't like something they would bring us something else. Even bring us something not on the menu that night. Th windjammer was quite good if you find the dishes you like. Some food there was excellent. I do agree that the specialty restaurants were by far the best except for the samba grill. Allure exceeded my expectation

We were on Norwegian last year and did not like there food or shows at all like people say a bad day on RC is better than a good day on Norwegian

we go on the allure in 1 week.been on the oasis several times.there is always good and bad with every cruise and ship.I've only been on carnival and royal Caribbean but between the 2 over 40 cruises mostly carnival only because of cost.carnival is like the Wal-Mart of cruise ships .you get your money's worth but thats about it..now i much rather go on RC anytime i can afford it.everything is 10 steps better than carnival.i always say a bad day on royal Caribbean is a good day on carnival.im looking forward to our cruise on the allure..everyday won't be perfect and youll get those that complain about a napkin but think about how hard those people and crew work to make you happy and get paid next to nothing.would you rather be working there?could you do any better?just enjoy your time away from work and your busy life.

We were on Princess in February. I'll let you know in February 2018 how the food & service on the Allure compares.

All of them have much better food.

Try Princess or Norwegion or Holland America. Much better.

just as people have good experiences some can have bad. a ships rating is a culmination of its bad and good. some people are crazy to think there will be no bad reviews . especially on this site. anybody that puts a good review nobody criticizes it. it's just like okay. but if somebody puts a very descriptive bad review they're attacked or people are always asking questions to be more descriptive. the people who think there are no bad experiences on a ship are in la-la land thinking that they don't exist. people need to stop attacking those who give a bad review like they were attacking then personally because that's the choice they made. it's just someone describing their bad experience.

on allure now. MDR has been great every night. SOMETIMES NOT REAL TRHRILLED WITH THE CHOICES BUT WHAT I DID ORDER HAS BEEN VERY GOOD. SOMETIMES I think these reviews are from an alternate universe.
