Review summary

The ship was beautiful but overwhelming.  There is not enough staff to accommodate the over 6000 passengers and they are not able to give that "personal" attention we're used to.  This was cruise #20 for us so we're not first time cruisers.  Bigger is not always better.  RC has gone over and above to build the larger, more elaborate ships, however, they have not staffed them sufficiently. The shows were disappointing because you had to have reservations to see them and they were the same shows. Not enough seating for this many passengers. Guest Services was amazing and patient. Not a day went by that there wasn't a line with questions. The ship was beautiful but service and entertainment needs work. You were always waiting in line for something and they were always running late. Very disappointed and would not recommend this ship or any of the larger ones with more than 4000 passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food was ok but always cold. Staff had too many tables and no time to sufficiently serve them all and our waiter/busboy had "issues" between them.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were great, however, limited and the venue cannot accommodate the number of passengers. We were not aware you had to make reservations until on the ship and was shut out of two shows because they were full and we didn't want to stand in line hoping seats were available for the no-show guests. Not a good experience

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our five year old grandson had an awesome experience with the programs and staff. They had enough staff to accommodate

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward, Medelyn Sarabia was amazing but truly over-worked/under staffed. She kept our rm spotless. Guest Services Officer, Anastasia Draguntan was fantastic. She took the time to answer our questions. Terrific rep for RC

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Tables in the open areas always filled with dirty dishes. Not enough staff to keep them cleaned off. The design of the ship is beautiful and clean but, again, not enough staff to keep it clean and they are "short" with the guests because they're exhausted!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our steward was amazing. Medelyn Sarabia attended to our every need and made sure our cabin was spotless. But she, too, is overworked with the number of cabins she has to clean. Our daughter, who was in Cabin 10558 had horrible service and one evening the steward told them he ran out of time and couldn't turn down their room. Again, understaffed. But we had exceptional service and the cabin was beautiful.

Ship tip

Make reservations for shows immediately--as soon as you board--to avoid being shut out of the shows and be prepared to wait in long lines.

rrstone you said this was your 20th cruise but that you didn't know you needed to make reservations for shows on the ship! I can understand it if it had been you 1st, 2nd, or even your 3rd cruise but your 20th cruise and you didn't know. Not buying what you're trying to sell here! Even I knew you had to make reservations by my 2nd cruise.....

What? Just got off the Allure on 8/21. I dont agree with anything you said. Everything was fabulous for us! There were so many staff, I was taken aback. Everyone was very courteous and patient. Thats a true skill in this day and age. It was also the cleanest freakin ship ever! They are serious about sanitizing your hands before you enter any food area, getting off the ship, getting back on, sanitizer dispensers everywhere! I loved that! Also, they are cleaning railings, elevator buttons, door knobs, etc, all day and through the night. My room attendant gave us a bottle of Dom Perignon! For no reason! Judging by the blogs, your experience is rare.

Your complaints are so odd. I disagree with all of that. Our stateroom attendant was there for every need we had, the waiters and food were fabulous. I saw 5 different shows while on board and yes I made reservations which was so easy. The shows were top notch. We made friends with the shop clerks and bartenders and were always given free cups & slippers. Maybe you get what you give!!!

We stopped cruising in July-August because of the capacity crowds, and of course because we are now empty nesters.  Do you recall how many guests were on the cruise?  We will try to capture the number and post it in our future reviews.

just curious...what kind of questions did you have for guest services?
