Southern Caribbean cruise by Drew646

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The island's you visit are awesome on this itinerary. If you can my suggestion is same exact itinerary but different ship if you can help it. Adventure of the seas does have some new upgrades but, the overall experience of the ship and cruise director functions lacked luster. Aside from that I had a great time.

Fun Family Outing by moishe613

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If the most important parts of the cruise are the port's and the service, then this is the cruise for you.  First, the pros:

1.  Service.  This ship is smaller than the Oasis class, and I believe the employees are less stressed out and better able to serve guests.  Dining room, room attendants, guest services, windjammer, pool area.... very friendly and helpful.

2.  Not crowded.  Yes, the Royal Promenade gets crowded for 70s night, but this ship never seemed crowded.  I never waited at the buffet or dining room.  Embarking and disembarking were organized.  Elevators and poolside were very manageable.

3.  The Port's.  They were great.  My favorite was Aruba with it's beaches.

4.  The Activities.  We enjoyed the  flow rider, rock climbing, the 2 waterslides, mini golf, volleyball, dodgeball, basketball, trivia contests.  Lots of fun.

Now, the cons:

1.  Entertainment.  The ice show was good.  The hypnotist show was good. The entertainment director, Elvis, was excellent.  The other musicals were boring.  There was one night that didn't have a show.  They played a movie instead....the same movie they played at poolside!

2.  Kids program.  They didn't staff this area well, and it looked very depressing whenever I walked by.  I didn't want to leave my kids there.

The food was not great, but it was good.  The Allure had better food.

Overall,  me and my family were very happy with this cruise.

Overall Royal yet again did not disappoint! by gammo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our granddaughter came with us and the kids program was great!  We had a major bathroom issue which took days to rectify, however someone was flushing face cloths etc. sabotaging our line .  The crew were all wonderful in keeping us informed and understanding our issue, even giving credit on our next cruise.

Dining and service was better than expected by RobertGarrison

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our 6:00 p.m.dining time became one of our favorite events daily due to the friendly and professional service of our Head server and assistant Ajit and Sonny. They exposed us to new and exotic foods we had never experienced before. We traveled with other family members and grandchildren which became an evening of pure joy and memorable moments that they were a very big part of and was very difficult to say goodbye, but we said until next time.We could find any complaints with our adventure on Adventures of the Seas from entertainment, service, cleanliness to excursions and timely schedules that exceeded our expectations.I would highly recommend any family trip with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for a most memorable experience.

Great experience, but beware if you have dietary restrictions (vegan/gluten-free) by OntarioCruiser7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This cruise had a great itinerary, with 6 different ports of call.  It was a great way  to see a large area of the Southern Caribbean.  The staff on the ship were for the most part friendly and helpful.  The one day we spent at sea, we had to skip one of our planned activities because there was so much to do!

We ran into difficulties because two of our guests had dietary restrictions.  If you have dietary restrictions, it is much better to go to the dining room, and not the Windjammer Cafe. The biggest problem was with a vegan diet.  The first waiter we encountered in the dining room was not helpful at all when my sister mentioned she was vegan.  Even the vegetarian dishes on the menu had butter, cheese or eggs cooked into them, so the choice she was given was to take out the main part of the dish and eat salad or fruit.  We were seated in a different section the next night, and that waiter brought over the head waiter who arranged for my sister to have a special meal prepared for her every night, as well as to have something made up for breakfast.

The few times we went to the Windjammer Cafe, there was only one vegan salad at one meal, that had some protein in it (lentils and beans).  Everything else had meat in it, including the chili, which would have been easy to make as a vegetarian/vegan option.  I have restrictions eating gluten, and I felt that the Windjammer Cafe was a trap, because there were no signs designating anything gluten-free, except for some G.F. bread which I found on the last day, and they seem to add flour to all kinds of things that are normally G.F., such as meat with a sauce, and pancake syrup!

Back in the dining room, the G.F. options were clearly labelled, and once the waitstaff learned about my restriction, they were extremely accommodating.  I found something among the G.F. options every day that I wanted to eat.  Also note that beyond being G.F., I enjoy eating almost anything.

All that being said, once we sorted out the dietary problems, we found the food in the dining room delicious, the waitstaff friendly.  We also found the staff around the ship to be generally friendly.

Getting on and off the ship was a fairly simple process with the SeaPass card.  The daily itineraries were great for helping to plan the day.

Our 5-year-old daughter requested to go to the Aquanauts program one day and loved it.  She went back for more sessions later and seemed to really enjoy herself and become attached to one of the staff there.

We loved our first experience cruising and would definitely recommend Royal Caribbean to others.

Great Ports, Everything else - not so great by Brant

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our room was old, dated, stained, and generally not what we expected when we booked with Royal Caribbean. The bed was hard as rock (some might enjoy this..).  The staff was friendly and polite, but disorganized and the beverage package was a joke.  We loved the ports and would highly recommend Antigua and St Lucia!

Fantastic Itinerary by ernstc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I would highly recommend this cruise. The only disappointment was the specialty restaurants.  We pre-purchased the specialty dining package as the new restaurants were supposed to be added in Nov 2016. They are now delayed until March of 2017. We were not informed of this until we boarded. We did receive a credit but would have liked to have known ahead of time.

Adventures of the Sea Cruise by Enjoyingthesun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

This was a very nice cruise.  We did have one issue with our stateroom.  The bathroom had a terrible urine odor that was so over powering.  We reported this right away and the ship crew tried everything to get this smell out.  After 5 days they were finally able to clear out the smell.  We did stay out of our room most of the time but would have liked to enjoy the balcony a bit more the first 5 days.

We feel they did not compensate us enough for this horrible inconvenience for this odor.  We were given 15% off our next cruise to use within a year.  Found out later that our friend has one issue for one day and received 20% off their next cruise.  very disappointed in this part of the service.

On another note, this was a lovely ship, service was great, food was very good and we did enjoy our time.  Just wish we did not have to endure that horrible smell in our room for 5 days.

Adventure of the Seas by sfrezz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was a fun cruise. The ports of call (Bonaire, Aruba, St Maarten and St Kitts) were great!!! I always pick my cruises by ports of call. The sports activities on the ship were also a great feature. We had fun on the flowrider. Our room was dated, had a mildew smell and the bed was very uncomfortable. The dining was good. The servers were very attentive and kind. We splurged on the drink package and were not disappointed. The drinks were delicious and the bartenders great! I wish the ship had better entertainment. The show and dancers were aweful. The comedians were fun but they were not on every night.

met great people; staff excellent; islands were beautiful but some of the native people were rather pushy about trying to get you to take tours or taxis or shop in their stores on St. Kitts

food on the ship was good, but not as good as it used to be

Great cruise by STLcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

We flew into San Juan the night before and were able to get on the ship early and easy.  The ship was very nice and had many things to enjoy.  The food did not seem quite as good as prior cruises on RC but it was still good and we ate plenty.  I did like that this ship had actual wash bowls before you enter the buffet area which I think might keep the norovirus at bay.  I've had that before and it is not good.  Our room was nice and seemed to have lots of storage.  We did all the excursions on our own.  All in all--a very pleasant and relaxing trip with great beaches to enjoy!

Mediocre by Cruiser36652724

Our favorite part of the cruise was the weather and the ports! Many things could have used improvement on the ship itself. There were a couple of great shows but a few were not.

We enjoyed everything about this cruise -- the ship was beautiful and very clean,, our balcony room very comfortable, our room steward the greatest, food was delicious, our wait staff exceptional, entertainment fantastic and on-board activities plentiful.  The Dream Vacations excursions were fun, informative and very affordable.  The islands we visited were some of the best we have ever encountered. The cruise was fabulous. They sure know how to take care of their passengers. The ports were just as great. It's a great way of getting a glimpse of places you'd like to go back to. The amazing things we saw. Staff on board have tremendous customer service skills and treat you like your their only passenger. Really impressed w the customer service. The ship itself is unreal. Great ports of call by kikikerndon

Service was very good.  Ship was clean compared to another line that I have taken more frequently.  Cabin very small and storage limited compared to a less expensive line.  Loved Bonaire, want to return.

SUNNY WEATHER by wannacruisealot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The full experience of just knowing everything was taken care of for us. From morning to night.  For our breakfast, lunch, dinner and entertainment or relaxation. There was something to do or not if we so choose. We could play, exercise, dance, listen to music, watch a show, play a game, surf, ice skate, eat a wonderful meal with our wonderful servers. Then retire to a refreshened well made bed and bathroom.

Great vacation, okay ship. by Cruiser80748494

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall great vacation! As usual the crew staff were generally friendly and helpful. I gave three stars for a few different reasons. It could be that it has been a few years since I have cruised with RC or it could be that the ship is now considered 'older', i am not sure. I was somewhat disappointed with the food, some of the staff service, and overall quality of the ship. It wasn't exactly as I remembered a fews year back. I always remembered the staff being overly friendly and entertainment being excellent. I couldn't say this was the case this time. It's the little things that add up and matter. We didn't receive any mints on our pillows at night, we only saw and spoke to our ship room attendant once (7 day cruise), only received towel animals twice, shows were lacking in quality (there was 1 excellent one though) and just overall not as high morale. Ice cream machine hours were limited, activities on the ship were randomly closed or out of order, etc. It was stuff like this that put a little damper on the trip. That being said we still had a great time! The cruise itself was busy with 5 different ports so we were at port mire than we were at sea. My next cruise I think I will aim to go on one of the newer ships and see if it RC quality that has decreased in general or if it simply that Adventure of the Seas is now an 'aged' ship.

RC Adventure of the Seas by dmmccrae

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Nice ship, clean, well furnished.  Shower stalls are bigger than most.  Excellent crew...friendly and professional,  seem to really enjoy working for RC. Balconies are covered and private. Piped in music too loud in bars ando eating areas.
