Review summary

We have sailed 16 previous cruises with another line. We decided to step outside the box and try Royal Caribbean due to several friends that raved about RC...we weren't impressed at all with the food or the entertainment. We tried it but didn't like it, we'll continue to explore other cruise lines.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had wheelchair assistance for my SO and it was quick and easy, took us straight to the muster station.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Seemed like they served the same foods over and over again. Had heard where RC had better food than other lines...not! Also the soft ice cream is only available 11:30-7! We like to grab a ice cream later in the evening before turning in. I did like that they still use plastic straws for the drinks.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Enjoyed watching the people on the flow rider several times, some talented guests. Went to the ice skating program, very nice and talented skaters. Had a blast at the Quest!!!! I don't like the shows so I didn't attend them due to the music always is so loud and hurts my ears. Seemed like it was dull around ship if you didn't go to shows or do trivia. Did watch the belly flop contest that was good.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Enjoyed the music of different performers around the ship, ice skating shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. What I didn't like was being harassed to purchase the upscale dining while we were trying to eat a meal in the Windjammer.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Common area's were fine but they had the veterans appreciation program right in the center of the promenade deck. Very little seating and people trying to get to the shops during the program. Needs to be held in a theater where people can sit down.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our steward Mariano Garcia was very attentive and did a excellent job keeping our ice bucket filled and anything else we requested.

Ship tip

It's not a mega ship and I like that. The mega ships are just too big for my liking.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island) Did not visit port

We were taken to Grand Turk instead which was alright

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
We had been to Puerto Plata before with other cruise lines but this was a different pier than we have been and liked it very much.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Again we docked at a different pier, took a taxi over to Paradise Point and rode the sky lift to the top.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

5 out of 5
Our first visit to St Croix and plan to return again sometime.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had The Key along with wheelchair assistance and it was very fast and smooth.

Honestly overall it sounds like you enjoyed the cruise. I think that trying a new cruise line is like sitting in a different pew at church. Still good but takes some getting used to. Just my humble opinion
