Review summary

I’m an emerald member so this wasn’t my first rodeo. Service could be better. They seemed under-staffed. The public bathrooms and public areas needed to be cleaned better. Food was average and ship seemed crowded. This was the first cruise that didn’t have the free drink machines where you could get water, tea, and flavored water. All they had was water jugs in the promenade cafe that tasted bad. Plus, the promenade cafe was always dirty. Splurge for the bottles of Evian for your room. And get your coffee from the Starbucks. The free coffee was terrible. Stateroom attendant left a cleaning rag in our bathroom 4 of the 8 nights (gross). I let him know the 2nd and 3rd time. The 4th time was our last night, so i couldn’t tell him again. Also, the bed was ridiculously hard. Other than that the cabin was fine ( we had a balcony cabin). Plenty of room. My wife is vegan, which i let them know before the cruise and each time we booked a specialty restaurant. Still had issues. The entertainment was great , especially the rock cover band “Switched On”. Probably the best cruise band I’ve seen. Casino and shops were nice. The MDR has a nightly vegan menu which was great. But the specialty restaurants seemed to have issues with it, unlike previous cruises. They almost seemed put out. The windjammer buffet was average. Johnny Rockets was good and had a veggie burger for the wife. Finding a table for breakfast was next to impossible. The worst I’ve ever experienced. It was my first Xmas holiday cruise and I’m wondering if this is why we had these crowd issues. Of all my RCCL cruises, this was the most underwhelming and unsatisfying. Still better than being at work.

Ship tip

If you like Starbucks coffee, buy a coffee card ahead of time. Good value. Plus, the free coffee onboard is pretty terrible. Also, splurge for Evian water bottles in your stateroom. Otherwise, you have to go get water from the promenade cafe and it wasn’t good.

Thanks for the tip about the water, going next month and have always filled up at buffet as I drink lots of water. Been on many cruises and this is a first. Going with my daughter, her husband and 5 and 6 year grandsons so will let them know.

Thanks for the tips. Going on Adventure of the Seas in a couple months. Have had great experiences on the Oasis class ships with large family and friends with us. Wanted to try this class since it is only my husband and I. Looking forward to the ports and just relaxing sea days. Sounds like we’ll get that.

Cannot use your Starbucks card on he ship, but you can purchase an on-board speciality coffee card. If your a caffeine junky like me, it’s worth the purchase.

We were on Adventure last year and going again in 2 weeks. I have a Starbucks gift card, I never tried using it on a Starbucks on a ship.

We found AOS to be quite interesting too. Fun but interesting.

I loved the Adventure last time.

Adventure was my least favorite ship. I found food was not good and staff unfriendly. Went on Anthem 6 months later and is was great. Harmony is next.

We were on the Adventure in November and loved it. NEVER cruise during a holiday if you don’t want a crowded ship. The best times are when school is in session.

I am sure Christmas had a lot to.do.with it. We sailed on Adventure last year. Did not have any of those issues. Cartainly.not water from water jugs in Windjammer. Eew. Beds are hard. Pretty universal there. Ask for extra pads. I do every time. Makes it more tolerable. Good that despite the not so perfect cruise you had a good time. I would recommend avoiding the holidays next time.
