Review summary

It was a wonderful and memorable 40th Anniversary cruise. From planning 18 months ago to debarkation, the process was pretty smooth. We had a luggage and flight service issues with American Airlines, but we arrived on time. We had to skip Halifax due to a sub tropical storm, but all was good in the end. We enjoyed the great selection of cuisines over the 13 days. Never lacked for something new to try. Specialty restaurants were excellent, but so was Windjammer. Ports of call provided for varied interests. If you decided not to go on an excursion in some of the ports there was no way to find any kind of souvenirs immediately off ship and for those who have walking or other disabilities that might be disappointing. It was for us. BUT that did not take away from the wonderful time we had to share together. Royal staff made for PERFECT expression of our 40 years of loving each other. We felt special in the midst of 3200 other cruisers. Thank you Royal Adventure of the Seas!

Embarkation

We purchased the Key. There was staff there to direct us in every aspect of getting onboard and checked in. It was EASY.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
No complaints here. We always found something special to eat. We liked the International cuisines provided in Windjammer.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I will have to rate a 3 because we did not participate in any of these activities. We enjoyed our lattes, playing cards and scrabble, browsing the shops, and ….

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We missed the Ice Shows because there was never enough Key reservation seats even if there an hour early.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
No matter where we were or what we were doing we were generally greeted as we passed staff. Service was perfect.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It took a couple of days to remember that "can't get there from here." You are never more than a few feet from a diagram of the ship or interactive board to find where you are and figure out how to get to where you want to go.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was PERFECT!. Panoramic Oceanview. We asked for bed toppers for more comfort due to hip replacements. We had a refrigerator to keep diabetic supplies and a sharps container was provided. Pleased with every aspect.

Ship tip

Sail with the intention of enjoying the company of the one you are cruising with. You make your own happiness.

Ports of call

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
Quebec City and Montmorency Falls. Tour guide was the best of our excursions. Was a bit disappointed in the falls.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Anne of Green Gables and Island Drive. Wonderful tour.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
No excursion, just a little walk around.

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
Olie's Trolly. It was a nice short tour with a wonderful guide.

Boston, Massachusetts

3 out of 5
Scenic Boston. The tour guide was not too interesting. The whole narrative was kind of flat especially given that we were in one of the most historical parts of our country. No time to take pics, no little stories to go along with the history. The tour may have been great given a different guide.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5
This is where we got off, picked up a cold/virus and came home.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Let's just say it was challenging - luggage issue.
