Review summary

This was our first cruise in many years. It was the largest ship we have been on. I would go on the Adventure of the Seas again. The staff was amazing! Everything was convenient, always something to do or not do. Your choice.

Embarkation

A very smooth transition

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had breakfast as a quick pass through some mornings in the cafe. Also might pass through for a piece of pizza in the afternoon. Nice area. Lunch was a time to just grab and go from either the buffet or cafe. The buffet was very crowded in the morning but there was always a variety of food available but not always a place to sit. We had dinner every night in the dining room. It was very organized and ran well.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We were a family of 6. For adults and two teenage boys. The boys were always on the go enjoying rock climbing, mini golf, ping pong competition, corn hole competition, water slide, arcade, pool and spas. They were never bored. They as well as the adults enjoyed the evening comedy shows. There was always live entertainment somewhere on the ship to enjoy.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We saw a comedy show we really enjoyed, a comedy show where the cruise director was a lot more fun and a magician that rushed through his act I’m guessing to fit it all in.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We could not have asked for better service anywhere on the ship. They are very customer driven. They make a point to know your name, needs and likes.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the ship is easy to get around. The design was good. Kids activities in one area. There are areas for everyone to be a part of something or areas to enjoy quiet.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room size was comfortable enough. Two twin beds pushed together, bed a little hard. Could use another couple inches at the end of the bed to get past cabinet to get into bed. The room was clean but worn and had a hint of a sewage smell.

Ship tip

Go to the back of the Windjammer buffet hall when you walk in the door. Everyone stops at the first service station. By pass them and go to the back.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

5 out of 5
This was not an excursion. We went straight to parking and straight to the ship. The staff there Did make the process very easy.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
We love Bar Harbor, have been there many times. In place of the excursion package from the ship we book a trip ahead of time through Acadia Tours. After tour we walked the town and had a great lunch at The Stadium Pub. Great lobster rolls, clam chowder and pulled pork sandwiches.

Saint John, New Brunswick

3 out of 5
We did our own walking tour that was nice but not a place I would be interested in going back to. We walked their “red” yellow brick road. It’s a pavement trail that will take you to the reversing falls. It is a long walk with a lot of up hill. It was a struggle for families with small children.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
This was a nice port with a mix of modern art and older buildings. A great area with food vendors. Also went to the Citadel and gardens near the Citadel. But did not have enough time to go into the Citadel.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy and organized. We carried our own luggage off the ship. The hard part is everyone wanting use the elevators with luggage at the same time. We used the stairs, went to our predetermined staging area and right out we went.
