Service and Staff

HORRIBLE-our steward accidently threw away my husbands 600.00 glasses and a custom medical pillow at 120.00 and took it personally and treated us badly the second half of the trip. He even made me an "animal" towel of a "man's privates" I have photos. He was a horrible and vindictive man as soon as we had to report the items missing. Security and deck manager were unsympathetic and made the whole experience a nightmare when they had no intention of replacing anything. We did not have travel insurance for loss so we are out 721.00. We contacted RC and the customer service was just as unsympathetic and unhelpful.
The ship experience was very uncomfortable the last week of the 2 week cruise was terrible because of the steward and the deck staff. The only ones who were very friendly was the Johnny Rocket's staff.

getting coffee when you are staying on the upper decks was a nightmare. Esp if you want any prior to 7am or after 9am. The café machines were out most of the time and you had to pay for the expensive specialty coffee. You can have the continental breakfast set up with coffee the night before but if you get up early you had to get dressed to go get coffee at the 5th deck mall. We called the ship the coffee haters club
Cabin / Stateroom

loved the cabin! Not enough outlets though, only 1-nothing in bathroom which was a bit inconvient. Toilet backed up a few times from other rooms but fixed somewhat quickly.
Ship tip
remember the coffee issue-staff is not friendly compared to Carnival-take pictures of items you cannot fit in the safe so the steward does not throw them out or your trip will suck from there.
While I don't dispute what happened to you, it seems strange to many that if your $600 glasses and your expensive pillow were placed in a safe spot for such valuable items that the room steward would intentionally throw them into the trash. Care of expensive smaller items like glasses should be given special care in where they are placed when not with me. If you placed them in a clean area then you really have a case. If not, the burden of neglect would fall back on you. Room stewards know how important things are to people and GENERALLY work hard to treat your personal items with care.
We’ve cruised with RC for years not all are listed. Also other cruise lines. Never had problems like you encountered with Royal sorry you had trouble with them. In every business you’ll find some kind of problem but don’t be be against Royal with one cruise.
Been on 15 cruises. Your towel animal was probably a penguin, it looks a bit phallic. IF you had a picture and showed it to guest services they would have reassigned your steward. IF you accused your steward of theft they would have reassigned the steward and a member of management would have supervised the cleaning of your cabin. The fact is, you guys probably lost both these items in a drunken stupor.
One cruise on any particular cruise line is not enough to make a judgment about the entire cruise line. I have been on multiple cruise lines over the years and all have good and bad points. The only complaint I have ever had regarding service was on Holland America, but many rave about the service being fantastic.
