Do your research before you go! Take negative reviews with a grain of salt. I was nervous about our trip after reading some of the reviews. I've learned that alot of people either just love to complain, have a sense of entitlement or didn't do any research or know what the rules were before they went on their trip. Not reading the rules and not being aware that your non potty trained child wasn't allowed in the main pool (which is a sanitary thing and a pretty common rule), does not give you a right to scream at the crew members everyday (yes, this happened. i watched this woman every morning yell at the crew members). My family had a wonderful vacation filled with lots of happy memories! Go, relax and don't sweat the small stuff!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Could not have gone smoother or more quickly! Parked, got inside and on the ship in 30 minutes at most!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We didn't do any of the specialty restaurants. The Windjammer, main dining room and café were all ok. The overall consensus from my family was it was ok, but we weren't wowed. Windjammer lunch selection got old by mid-week. We did dinner in the MDR every night and while our waitstaff was fantastic, the food was just another meal...nothing special.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We used the pools, splash area, slides and rock climbing wall. We always got deck chairs but we were at the pool by before 8am every morning (we have kids!) and the last morning my son and I were at the pool by 6:45am. If you like to sleep in, don't expect a deck chair next to the pool or in the shade. It's not because people reserved them (and yes that does happen), it's b/c there isn't a deck chair for every passenger on board. You are not entitled to one you want where you want it so don't come to the pool area at 11 and start yelling at the crew members. Only other suggestion to RCCL is to open the splash area earlier (it opens at 10am). The kids are up early and opening it at 10 didn't make much sense to us.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We did the ice show and the magician, as well as played bingo. Bingo was our favorite! The ice show was OK. I expected more, maybe b/c it gets a lot of hype and so my expectations were higher than they should've been. Magician was great!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The crew members were always friendly and helpful! We always saw them cleaning and keeping the ship in top shape. Our wait staff was great! Our room attendant, not so much...never really saw him, no towel animals, dirty towels (see below).
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We were very happy with the ships layout and cleanliness. The crew was always cleaning and picking up after the slobs too lazy to find a place to throw away their trash or put their empty plates/glasses. We were on Deck 2 and used the stairs to get mostly everywhere. I hate crowded elevators and so we just avoided them completely.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
We knew it would be tight quarters for the four of us (two adults, two kids), but it wasn't bad at all. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway. It was an adjoining room, however we never really heard our neighbors our at all. It seemed we had a lot of families in our hallway which may have helped with noise at night as no one was partying to the wee hours LOL. We did have dirty towels and sheets on occassion and sometimes not enough towels which was odd since the # of people in our room never changed.
Ship tip
Get to the Winjammer early for breakfast and then get to the pool to get the deck chair you want! Deck 4 is quiet and perfect for watching the sunrise/sunset. So is the helicopter pad!
No problems tendering. We were on the second tender off the ship. Bar drinks were included with our beverage package! We rented the loungers for two and it was on a nice quiet side of the island, with it's own bar and free to use beach mats. My son snorkeled (we brought our own) all day and could go so far out!
We did the Blue Lagoon Deluxe Beach Break and it was ok. We rented the clamshell and for $40 you got it all day, two free bar drinks and two souvenier beach towels! It was more like a public pool. The swim area is small. We were the first group there so it was quiet and not crowded for a period which was nice. Buffet lunch was just ok. Still, we were in the Bahamas and not at work so why complain!
Great review. Totally agree with don’t sweat the small stuff. Vacation is what you make of it. Be positive, have fun and definitely read the rules/regulations before. Love adventure and will cruise on her again as soon as I see 2020 itinerary.
We went on the June 20th. Bahamas cruise. It was in one word "WONDERFUL!" Everything was perfect, the food, the service, and the entertainment . The cabin and attendant were great. I even did ok in the casino. I highly recommend this cruise.
Thanks for the helpful review! Will be on Adventure in Mar ‘19. Excites for that. My suggestion: try the specialty restaurants next time! Kids eat cheap or free depending on ages (12 and under)
Great review. I’ll be on Adventure in 2020 and can’t wait. Funny how people get mad they can’t let their babies in the main pool. I don’t want to swim in your child’s pee!!
Looking forward to this ship in May. Had a great time on Explorer years ago- so this will be even better!
Funny about towel animals- last cruise we went on (on explorer I think) we didn’t get ONE towel animal- so about 4 days in I went to customer service and was like hey- do you guys not do that anymore? Lady was confused and said they did, why? Told her we never got any, didn’t want to sound like I was complaining and didn’t want to ruffle any feathers but was just curious- that night there was a towel animal PARTY in our room and had one every night after that
