I enjoyed the cruise because it was our 25th Anniversary cruise, but I will never do the Souther Caribbean again.. We were glad that all our dinner mates were fun. That added to the cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The process in San Juan was excellent considering that 65% of the country was still without power.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Having been on the Royals Caribbean big ships I think this ship paled in comparison.. I didn't think the food was as good. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, just not as good or as good a selection..
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
There were a lot of activities for the water inclined. We liked the promenade and the casino. LOL
Entertainment
4 out of 5
They were just ok. Although we stayed for the shows, people were walking out.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our waiters were the best. Wish we could take them home. Dony and Putu
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Yes for the most part the ship common areas were kept maintained. It was the unruly kids that trashed the bathrooms.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
The door above the safe was coming off the hinge. The door to the refrigerator was off the hinge. The arm to the couch kept falling off. The water in the bathroom sink kept dripping and the pressure was so low my husband had to put his face in the shower to get the rest of the shaving cream off. The bed was so hard we needed 3 extra pillows and a mat from the pool area to sleep in the bed because it was like sleeping on a rock and with my bad back I was in severe pain. I feel I should get a credit for that cabin!!!
Right now San Juan is hard to travel around because roads are still blocked. We had a friend who lives there met us post cruise and drove us around.. The traffic is terrible because there areen;t many traffic lights and a ton of traffic.
Hated it!!! The scooter didn't work there. The sidewalks and roads were so uneven that is was too difficult to get around by scooter. People were physically accosting us for tours. I felt unsafe and went back to the ship.
We did a tour in St. Lucia. We were struck by the devastation of Maria. About 75% of the population that we saw were living in deplorable conditions, about 20% were living in passable conditions and only 5% would we even consider living in. It was awful to see .
Most of St. Thomas still didn't have power but they pulled themselves together and got it going. We took another tour there. IT was a shame to see that the rainforest was totally gone and how the mountain side looked like it had been burned . Maria really did it's number on them but they are determined. We really enjoyed the tour. and the island.. We were 1600 feet above sea level so we really got to see it all.
