In the last year we have cruised on Carnival, MSC Cruises and now this Royal Caribbean cruise. Although they all have their strengths and weaknesses I have to admit this cruise was more of a disappointment to us than the others. We have seen most of the popular ports and for us the cruise experience we appreciate the most is the entertainment and food. The limited choices and schedules for food on this ship is a big negative. The low quality entertainment is a big negative.
If you only care about getting to the destination and shopping, this cruise is for you.. but if you share our passion for being entertained and pampered with great food whenever you want to eat it.. I would suggest you try another cruise line.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was fast and smooth
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was of good quality but the food venue choices and when they were available were limited unless you wanted to pay extra.
Other ships we have been on offer burgers, tacos, deli counters and other food choices that don't require you paying more. On this ship the buffet is only open until 3pm and the only place to have something to eat when returning from a shore excursion is a pizza place which had mediocre tasting pizza. The drink choices are even worse! If you don't buy a soda or booze package, the only thing they offer you to drink with your meals is water.. or lemonade! No ice tea, fruit juices or other choices.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The only activities we did on board was swimming in the pool and miniature golf. Both were ok.
I love to gamble in a casino, but unfortunately this ship has NO NON SMOKING SECTION and allows smoking everywhere in the casino.. I could only go a few times to play the roulette tables because of the stink of smoke everywhere! Why in this day and age are they still catering to smokers above non smokers? Not acceptable!
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Instead of the Broadway quality entertainment we have experienced on other cruise lines this cruse entertainment consisted of comic / jugglers, impersonators and ice skaters. The one night of singing and dancing we saw was with limited stage settings and storyline. The on ship entertainers were a piano player, a "jazz band", a solo guitar player and a reggae band. The piano player and guitarist played along with recorded music. The reggae band was the best of the choices. The venues were limited to a street scene themed 5th floor shopping promenade, one bar and an out door stage below the movie screen.
Children's Programs
duh.. no kids?
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff were great. Both our dining room waiter and assistant waiter were very attentive and the room steward was very attentive to our requests.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship design was good with some art installations and interesting staircase designs.
The cleanliness of the ship was excellent.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Smaller than what we have experienced on other ships but clean and orderly.
Ship tip
Eat a big breakfast before going on any shore excursions.. you won't be able to eat again until dinner time on this ship.. unless you eat off the boat or pay extra.
We have been to this island many times.. although Megan's bay is beautiful, it is crowded. We find it a much better experience to take the ferry to St. John and go to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay.
Nice port with beautiful beaches. We went to Cas abou Beach which required a 45min. taxi ride.. best to share the cab with other couples to lower the cost.
The last time we were in St. Kitts we didn't like the beach or the constant hawking of goods and hair braiding that went on along the beach. This time we went to St Friars Beach which although crowded was stunningly beautiful.
