Review summary

Have been on several cruises and our first for Royal Caribbean - Adventure of the Seas was a "okay" ship that is getting ready for dry-dock refurbishment - so there were some blemishes but nothing ugly - Cabin was adequate but needs a good cleaning/polishing in dry-dock, heard from others that their suite cabins were smaller than suites on other ships.  Food options was minimal between Main Dinning (food good), Windjammer café (food steam table variety) - Chef's Table was excellent and worth the price with the food and wine you get -- Giovanni's was nice Italian meal, nothing spectacular, but still good - Johnny Rockets cover charge followed by their delicious milk shake and you pay as much as you would on land. Spa had excellent services - relaxation room was not great and lacks dressing rooms, thermal spa.  Service was like the elevators - sometime both were slower than expected.  Service personnel were not quick or especially outgoing (maybe because the pending dry dock?)  Entertainment was good - Comedians were excellent, singers were good, dancers/shows were fair. Quest game show was outrageously funny. Would have expected more midday activities to cover the generations of people. Embark/Disembark - need to be simply patient with both expect delays or you will get frustrated.  Leaving from San Juan during Hurricane season is chancy but worked out for us.

Size of cabin was adequate, some blemishes need to be attended to. With dry-dock forthcoming - cabin refurbishment is in order. Excellent location to mid ship elevators with no noise to be concerned about.

Ship tip

Chef's Table is worth the price - good food, wine and conversation.

It's a really old ship about to get refurbished...if you try Oasis, Allure or the new Harmony...you will laugh at Carnival.

That about sums up my feelings. This was my 5ty cruise. Last year I cruised Carnival Breeze. I think I prefer Carnival over Royal Caribbean
