Wonderful First Time Cruise Experience by hmhaxton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: North America

I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the cruise ship. The crew was very professional, friendly and attentive. I appreciated the slower pace and found it very relaxing.

Fell a little short of my expectations by lynnlynnstr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: North America

The cruise ship had a lot of chipped paint and rusted areas.  Windows were impossible to see thru in the buffet and several other areas of the ship.  Since this ship was headed to Alaska, I'm sure guests would like to see the view.  We had no hot water in our cabin and another couple told us their heating wasn't working for 4 days.  I indicated it was my mother's birthday and was told a cake would be served on our second night.  No cake was ever served on any of the nights.  I didn't feel that the entertainment or the cruise staff was up to par when comparing it to our experience on the Ruby Princess in Nov. 2015.

Overall good by russcrockett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

The bed was comfortable and the cabin was clean, with enough room to move around.  The bathroom was bigger than expected, although the toilet was cramped.  Only one real problem, the safe didn´t work.  I went to the front desk three times to ask to have it fixed.  The second time the employee who came had to call his supervisor, who told me there were no working safes available and they would let us know if they found one.  After hearing nothing I went to the desk again.  This time they went to an empty cabin and replaced our safe with the one from that cabin.  Other than that the service was good.

The magician in one of the shows used some inappropriate language for kids.  The rest of the shows were good.

relaxing trip by piggldy5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

Loved trip itself but changes to staterooms while upgrading rooms  are not very good. Less storage and more useless space. No place to sit with good lighting to apply makeup-- must have been redesigned by a man.  But enjoyed bathroom setup.

Seating in buffet inadequate and the ship allows people to sit and play cards and games( taking up many tables) during peak meal hours.  went to the main dining room meals after several days of milling around looking for seating without success.

Good entertainment.

Casino seemed like an afterthought to the layout of the ship.

People at the main desk not very knowledgeable or maybe just not willing to help.Only ship I have ever been on that did not have postcard stamps and so I was told to ask a local onshore to mail the cards for me. This is unacceptable.

Also thought ship should have supplied maps of the towns where we were stopping like every other cruise I have ever been on, The lack of maps seemed to me like a petty attempt by the cruise line to get back at customers that did not schedule shore excursions.

Cruise director's staff was wonderful as was our cabin steward Marvin.

Fun trip, not for bachelorette party by rosered12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

Food was great, room was nice, and we all loved the staff. However we were there for a bachelorette party, and were disappointed in the nightlife. We also felt like we were being asked for money at every turn. $70 for bingo???? Also a 3 hour line for a taxi to the airport at disembarkation. We met several people who missed their flight!

Relaxing atmosphere by patricia444

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

The food and service was great and the ports of call, San Francisco and Victoria BC, were really fun. I LOVED the spa package and found it very relaxing to get away whenever I needed a break from the festivities. Even though this was a "full" cruise, it didn't seem crowded and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I really liked the Yoga class that was offered most mornings and the Cardio Dance Class. I didn't mind paying for the Yoga class and would have happily paid for the Cardio Dance class had it been a full hour - I wasn't that fond of having it at The Fyzz Lounge as it seemed a little awkward. Tsars was such a lovely place to dine I would have had every meal there, but we did try the specialty dining as well; Cagney's for steak one night (yum!) and LeBistro, which had a great menu and a really cozy vibe. The Jewel is one of the older ships and it seemed a bit dated at times, but I found the size quite charming and easy to navigate with plenty of variety for everyone in our group of 4.

enjoyed the penthouse suite and the services. The staff, Rosie, Pedro and Omar were a highlight. We enjoyed eating breakfast and lunch on the 13th floor as it was nice and quiet and the food very good.

Disappointing by KareninVegas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

We brought a couple that had never been on a cruise before and, although we were disappointed, we didn't let hem know.  Reasons:

1. Just not quite there.  Examples:  Food in Azura the first night wasn't up to your past standards.  Overcooked, dry flounder - no sauce - a couple of limp arugula leaves on top. Others at the table were not impressed.   Service was slow, even tho the restaurant was not full, preventing us from getting to the show on time. No coffee refills. Food in Moderno was barely OK. Latitudes "party" was one glass of wine and a couple of cheese squares.  Room was not dusted when we arrived, and we asked for extra coffee packets when we got in.  Coffee pot was GREAT and we thank you for that, but she never replaced packets for the rest of the trip or refilled the ice bucket at night. We had to go out looking for those items when we returned to the room at night.  All of these things, taken together, were disappointing.

2. Staff was very friendly wherever we went on the ship.

3.  There must be a way to coordinate so two ships aren't disgorging passengers at once.  We have cruised on Norwegian many times and have chosen it because it is smaller, but we ended up in Vancouver getting off with all the passengers on Ruby Princess.  A total mess.

4.  The shows aren't much fun anymore.  The comic/magician the last nite was fun, but what happened to the great shows you used to have?

5.  Then there is room service and the charge for that....Norwegian is just not fun anymore.

What an adventure! by jerryc2435

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

14 days living the good life aboard the NCL Jade.  Crossings are wonderful way to get to know the staff and other travelers as you interact a lot during multiple sea days.  We particularly enjoyed the evening performances including Dimitris and Victoria's aerial performance.  A greatly earned standing ovation for these two very talented people.

Great sea days but debarkation processes chaotic. by yasmar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

The abundance of relaxing sea days.  Great weather , staterooms on par with NCL other ships except for lack of storage in balcony cabin. Two port days with scheduled excursions prior to debarkation a bit difficult. A sea day is need before final port of call.

Cruising north. by BillPritchard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

The weather in the ports was great. The Haven is always nice but not quite Like it is on the bigger/newer NCL ships. They could offer a bit more. The crew were very nice and helpful. Victoria is a clean beautiful city. We took a pedicab tour that was informative and fun. Tea at the Empress is an experience not to be missed. Though pricy is was worth. Ask for Raymond he was an exceptional server. The weather at sea was cool/cold and the the ocean rough at times, but very doable.

Smooth Sailing by marilynszilagyi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

Enjoyed this cruise.  We were lucky enough to have smooth seas on our journey to Great Britain.  Really loved the ports we visited -- just wish we could have had more time at them.  Also enjoyed the specialty restaurant and entertainment.  Especially liked the piano music with Taylor.  The food was overall good, but nothing special.  Would have liked a "special dinner" night with better menu.  The fish was always good.

Will never sail on an RCCL cruise again by cgraham324

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: North America

Was very upset at being nickled and dimed to death for everything on this cruise.

I have never been on a cruise that charged for room service, $8.  Thought the prices of the drinks were too high, and not that strong, no nice little amenities, like chocolates on the pillow at night, or a pen in the stateroom. The mattress was so hard, that I had to have the cabin stewardess pad the mattress so that I could sleep.  Bought a coffee card for my husband and I, only to find out it was a punch card type process.  A small cup of coffee with a syrup was one punch, if I wanted that coffee iced, it was two punches.  Frapps and venti size coffees were two punches.  Plus, on other cruise lines, if you bought a specialty coffee you were entitled to a free cake.  Not on this ship.   Food in the pay for restaurants was very good, except for Izumi, awful sushi.  Jamie Oliver's was terrific as was Wonderland.  Food in the main dining room was okay.  The steaks were very good in all restaurants.  The wait staff in all the restaurants were excellent.  The ship itself is beautiful and full of fun things for kids, we had a seven and three year old with us who enjoyed the ship to it's fullest.  I found it too crowded, too many people.  Embarkation was the best I have ever experienced, but going thought Immigration in Boston and Customs in Bayonne, was a horror show.

Did find that some of the staff at Customer Relations were brash and when asked questions gave the wrong information.  I will never sail on a RCCL cruise again.

Not for the health conscious by dkeller313

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: North America

If you are health conscious you will really struggle with the food. You would think that being so technology oriented they would be more aware of healthy foods. A gym and a yoga class is not a replacement for healthy food choices. We were basically instructed to eat salad.  Very disappointing. No variety of foods for us. I have been on other cruise lines such as Holland America that has a vegetarian/vegan menu with multiple choices.  I have even been on other Royal Caribbean Cruises in the past where there were vegan choice even if they were not labelled as such. This ship with its technology has the illusion of being health conscious and forward thinking.  Its not.  Its just gimmicky.  Very disappointing.

My Husband and I missed the whole cruise due to sickness by susanl471

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: North America

Sad to say, when we entered the ship, we were beyond

excited to celebrate his Big Birthday on the cruise.

When we boarded, we were told to go enjoy a Buffet

lunch in there public dining area!

so we ate, and while eating I notice people we touching the food, then

licking there fingers, then going to station to staion

touch and  contaminating food!!!

Hence, the next morning day 2 my husband and I

were very sick, and not to  contaminate other  passengers

we   Quarantine ourselves for the rest of the cruise!

missing dinners, shows, and ports of calls!!

And all the perks that come with being A Diamond Plus

member on RCCL.

if your company could relate this review to our cruise it

would be appreciated!

Our problem of getting sick on this cruise, came from

people  contaminating food by touching it , and causing

us to  contract a virus that lasted the entire week!

Brandt's Review by brandtpg1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: North America

The best part of the cruise was watching the interaction between Matt (the cruise director) and Kaylee (the assistant cruise director). The are a great complement to each other.

Improvements to the cruise is the disembarkation process at the very end of the cruise. Too much waiting, for too many people, going too many places all at once.

Recommendations: I would recommend this cruise to a friend.
