Review summary

The food and service was great and the ports of call, San Francisco and Victoria BC, were really fun. I LOVED the spa package and found it very relaxing to get away whenever I needed a break from the festivities. Even though this was a "full" cruise, it didn't seem crowded and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I really liked the Yoga class that was offered most mornings and the Cardio Dance Class. I didn't mind paying for the Yoga class and would have happily paid for the Cardio Dance class had it been a full hour - I wasn't that fond of having it at The Fyzz Lounge as it seemed a little awkward. Tsars was such a lovely place to dine I would have had every meal there, but we did try the specialty dining as well; Cagney's for steak one night (yum!) and LeBistro, which had a great menu and a really cozy vibe. The Jewel is one of the older ships and it seemed a bit dated at times, but I found the size quite charming and easy to navigate with plenty of variety for everyone in our group of 4.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Tsars was particularly nice and the staff was wonderful!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Yoga class was great and the fee was reasonable. I would have happily paid a fee for the Cardio Dance Class if it was an hour long and maybe in a slightly less awkward setting.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedy shows were a lot of fun - I wasn't as particular to the acrobatic shows. I really missed the chance to watch a big screen movies - only one was offered the whole voyage.

Children's Programs

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I know if it a smaller and older ship, but I found it easy to navigate and in good repair. You could tell there was some wear and tear, especially in the public bathrooms, but the cabins were very nice and the restaurants in great shape.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice. Our steward was great and even fixed up the cabin at a few "odd" times the day that I was ill. I expected the cabin to feel crowded, but it was very comfortable. My only complaint was the TV reception was very bad and the controller unreadable.

Ship tip

Get the spa package for when the crowds start to wear on you - it is a great deal and there are separate sex and unisex areas, so you will always have a "decompress" space. Tsars for lunch and breakfast - even on a full ship, there was always a quiet place to eat.

Ports of call
