Review summary

Sad to say, when we entered the ship, we were beyond

excited to celebrate his Big Birthday on the cruise.

When we boarded, we were told to go enjoy a Buffet

lunch in there public dining area!

so we ate, and while eating I notice people we touching the food, then

licking there fingers, then going to station to staion

touch and  contaminating food!!!

Hence, the next morning day 2 my husband and I

were very sick, and not to  contaminate other  passengers

we   Quarantine ourselves for the rest of the cruise!

missing dinners, shows, and ports of calls!!

And all the perks that come with being A Diamond Plus

member on RCCL.

if your company could relate this review to our cruise it

would be appreciated!

Our problem of getting sick on this cruise, came from

people  contaminating food by touching it , and causing

us to  contract a virus that lasted the entire week!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Was no able to eat all week except for the last night, when we went to a speciality restaurant Called Chops! Which was Excellent, until the table next to VOMITED AT THE TABLE AND it Was all over! I was disgusted, and think many people on this cruise had some kinda of Virus , Which we contracted !!!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was fine,,, but never left the bed! As my husband and we're sick The entire week until the last night!

Ship tip

Don't not eat at the Buffet , where people Touch food and there mouths and touch food you are eating Totally disgusting and unsanitary !

I definitely would had something IMMEDIATELY. just because it's an Buffett people "should have" common sense to not do things in that matter and then again, some people don't have any home training.

Sorry to hear about your cruise. When we were on a lady stuck her finger in a salad dsg and tasted it. So disgusting!! And noro virus was on our cruise, so it ended early. Some people have no manners.

I have sailed on Anthem 3 times since October 2016 and never contracted any illness of any kind. I think it all boils down to personal hygiene, being diligent around others, and watching what's going on around you. Of course there are some things you can't avoid, but there's a lot that you can do to protect yourself, Common Sense goes a long way.

I haven't been cruising as much as you and am sorry you got sick. if this is your first time, I guess it was bound to happen at some point (regardless if food poisoning or noro). I got noro on our December Anthem cruise but luckily at the final day. I agree with the earlier poster who said it only lasts a few days. mine was about 3 (and it left as quickly as it came) but I don't want that again! I am not even more diligent with sanitizing, cleaning door knobs, etc. Yewk! FYI, my only case was on Anthem too last December. I still went back though :-)

I would probably suggest not going to the buffet if you are concerned about others touching food.

*not sure why my comment includes the name Bridget!

It actually sounds more like food poisoning. Bridget Viruses typically take a little longer to manifest unless you were actually infected before you boarded. But I agree. That's still gross!

I'm sorry for what happened to you but it sounds to me like you were the victim of the nice-person syndrome. I was once in line at a salad buffet and saw a woman licking her fingers after she put down every spoon at the buffet. I walked out without eating. Surely you could've eaten somewhere else. That's always my preference. I'd rather take my chances on cook and waiter than a thousand people. Sorry for your experience.

I guess I would have stopped eating if I had seen all of that.

It's also not the fault of Royal AT ALL. Definitely shouldn't rate one star when you got sick from what you THINK could have been other passengers. You could have picked something up before arriving. Who knows.
