Another Unique Experience by shazamdroid

We chose this itinerary to experience a repositioning cruise. For that reason, I found the entire cruise enjoyable because we had several sea days in which to relax. Can't say that I would do this again because Petropavlovsk and Hoonah were big disappointments. The Japan ports were the best!

Good ship, wonderful itinerary by dlee17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Transpacific

The ship was good. Staff were courteous, food was good, ship's condition was good. The entertainment was ok. The final show, cirque bijou, was pretty good. Other than that, a lot of people just walked out during the show. Itinerary was very good. That's what made us take this cruise. Tokyo to seattle via alaska. Japanese ports were pretty good. Alaska was very good. We did not enjoy Russia.

Sea day passed very quickly do as much or as little as you want. Make sure you try some of The specialty restaurants. They are excellent and break up the dining room routine.

French Polynesia by rtofny

Had a great time. Met a lot of nice people. Made new friends. Don't like the little cutbacks. Like a chocolates on the pillow and chocoholics night. I didn't mind the tips have gone up. The kitchen and housekeeping staff are well worth it. My biggest complaint was the visa that I was unaware of. In the end I purchased two next S. Wasn't going to do it based in my last experience. But this cruise was so much better than the one I took.l in May. I like carnivals internet policy. It's $5 a day for social media. It's a great idea when you need to contact family.

MS Volendam Vancouver to Tokyo by hwpagels

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Volendam / Destination: Transpacific

Overall we had a great and interesting trip. The Filipino and Indonesian crew were very friendly and worked very hard! Others no so much. Embarkation/disembarkation was really well done. The Gala night was great also. The drinking water was terrible, tasted over chlorinated and stale. Had to buy some on land as on board prices are ridiculous. Too many crew members were sitting and eating in the Lido in prime spaces and were not friendly to the passengers around them.

Very good long journey by hafkey333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Transpacific

Great cruise, but very long with 12 days at sea and one day of 20-26 foot waves in the Pacific. We were ready to get off the boat after a day of 20-26 foot waves. Mr toads wild ride. Our highlight was snorkeling with the humpback mama and baby in Tahiti, and the all day jetski/atv adventure in Moorea.

Had a great time. by johnfisher23112

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sirena / Destination: Transpacific

Overall, the cruise was excellent, however, a few points reduced my score from a 5 to a 4.

*  I think the ship should rethink stopping in Suva, Fiji, as we did not feel very safe in that port.  We were warned about this in "Currents," and also were warned about it by the bus driver taking us to town.  He said even catching a cab could be dangerous.  We went back to the port dock on his recommendation and booked an excursion there.

*  I would love to see less expensive excursion prices.  Many times you can get the same excursion at the port dock for a considerably cheaper price.

The service on the ship is excellent as well as the food.  We would definitely recommend this trip.

South Pacific Cruise by map2221

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sirena / Destination: Transpacific

As for our Oceania cruise, this is the first time that we've cruised with this brand.  This cruise line is not of the quality to be classified as a luxury cruise liner.  I was told by several other passengers that this cruise line was bought out by another cruise line.  I personally do not intend to book with this cruise line again.

Our cruise departed New Zealand and cruised through New Caledonia, Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, Moorea, Bora Bora and Papette.  We felt that the tours operated for several of these cruise destinations were not what we expected; they fell short of the descriptions provided in the brochure.  One example is of a guide who tells how pretty the view is from a look out point as the driver proceeds to not stop.  This is not acceptable tour operator behavior.  The land tour operators are selected by Oceania and we expected better.

the most disorganized and unfriendly ship I ever cruised with by mml4211

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Transpacific

This is the first time I cruise with Princess. I have cruised over 100 days with Royal Caribbean and Carnival. I am very disappointed with Emerald Princess. All the staff on board are lack of enthusiasm . They are unprofessional and defensive.   One time I called the Spa about the steam room was out of order for 2 days. she replied she did not know how to fix it. As she already reported it to services department. that is unprofessional, unfriendly and defensive. She should say sorry for the inconvenience, I already asked the maintenance department to fix it. I do not know when it will be fixed but I will be glad to fellow up on it and get back to you. In another occasion, I was told the coin change machine in self laundry room was broken and I had to go up to purchase the coin at customer services desk. I asked them whether they know when the machine will be fixed. He replied with defensive tone again, said due to passengers careless let the door to slam on the machine and cost the problem. later I came across a repairman, he told me the machine is working and if not just bang on it. He did it and made the machine to work. In other words, the customer service guy did not personally clarify with the repairman and just to tell us story to  push us off. I can give much more bad experiences, however the above 2 cases is enough to give you the idea of what i am talking about. Our diner waiters are excellent and they are the only nice worker on board the vessel.

Great Cruise by janicedoyle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Transpacific

Food was excellent, crew and staff were very friendly and always smiling. Our room  stewart and restaurant servers called us by name and always had time to talk with us.

It would have been nice if the Noordam had a movie theatre.

Australia / New Zealand January, 2017 by rozvenditti

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Maasdam / Destination: Transpacific

This is the first cruise we have taken on Holland America. Our cruise consultant, Harry, was the best - very informative and helpful. He answered all of our questions and provided excellent customer service throughout the booking process. The best part of the trip was being able to visit Australia and New Zealand.  All of the ports had something to offer - we especially liked Napier - just beautiful.  The wildlife parks were a great joy - getting up close to the native animals- kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and some others.  We also enjoyed visiting the various wine regions throughout the voyage - we were able to purchase wine and even bring some home with us.  Learning about the Maori culture was also very interesting. We visited one of the Maori villages in one of the ports and saw some of the native dances.  The nightly entertainment onboard was very good. The Maasdam singers and dancers were very professional.  On one of the last days of our trip we were able to have a "meet the performers" session where they answered questions that we had and we were able to go behind the scenes backstage - very enjoyable. Meals onboard were good. We had dinner in the Pinnacle Grille one night and it was the best meal we had onboard.  There was an issue with  the wine packages we purchased -  we purchased a 5 bottle package and only ONE of the wines we requested was available. We kept being told the wine would be brought on at the next port but this did not happen. The wine steward did meet with us and several others who had the same issue. He allowed us to select other wines in place of what we could not get in our wine package. It was a little frustrating. Two days before we were to disambark, the air conditioning system on our floor went out. I called the front office and was told the problem was being worked on. However, at about 9 pm that night I called again and was told the proble, was fixed. The temperature in our cabin was 77 degrees and did not cool down overnight. It actually got hotter. The next morning I called again and was told the problem was "being worked on". I called several times again on that day and received the same response. Upon returning to our cabin later in that day, there was a workman in our cabin supposedly fixing the unit in the ceiling. However, when he was finished, the temperature kept rising and got up to 83 degrees. At that point I want to the front desk to complain since I was getting nowhere with phone calls. The cabin was extremely uncomfortable and I was told the supervisor was aware of the problem and was working on a concession for us. The next morning (the day we were getting off) we received a letter stating we would get a $250 credit for our inconvenience. The restaurant and wait staff were very good at their jobs. The ship is older and, I feel, in need of the care. Specifically, in the lower dining room one of the windows has a crack from top to bottom - it was not very comfoto see that crack. Shopping was just OK - nothing spectacular. It would have been nice to have more items of the local areas that we were sailing through to purchase onboard. The itinerary was wonderful but the ship needs some TLC. I would definitely recommend the itinerary. I absolutely recommend our cruise consultant. Thank you.

Sadly not as wonderful as expected. by cjclark53

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crystal Symphony / Destination: Transpacific

I was truly impressed at the caliber of activities they had available for the days at sea.  There was a wide array of excellent speakers and truly top notch instructors for the wide variety of classes. That said, it was disappointing that we could not go to key ports that were the entire reason for the trip: Cook Islands and Fiji, but Mother nature was very uncooperative.

The cruise could still have been excellent if the cruise theme of "Food and Wine" had been better executed.  2 cooking demonstrations, 2 limited wine tastings and one evening with some dishes by the specialty chef did not a Wine and Food cruise make.  To make it worse, the food was not as good as on previous Crystal cruises and at our final dinner i couldn't eat my duck (nor my husband his beef) due to the heavy hand with salt.

Evening entertainment was excellent; Crystal dance hosts were very good and they had excellent musicians on board for the lounges and some specialty entertainers for select evening.  Plus the "I Imagine" show was excellent. Service as always was spectacular.

We still love Holland America - but are concerned they are changing by chezbob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Noordam / Destination: Transpacific

Holland is our favorite line because they cater to older folks (we are 62 & 70); there are very few kids and they offer duplicate bridge.  We however heard a rumor they were trying to dump the bridge as an activity.  The Noordam was very nice - not too large and the food was the best of any Holland ship were have lived on.  The Noordam still has a traditional sing along piano bar which we love.  Mike McCabe was on contract and very, very talented.  We made our best friends on the cruise at the piano bar and at bridge.  The staff couldn't have been nicer and we loved the south seas and Australia/New Zealand itinerary.  The 39 days flew by for us.

Our crossing was very smooth and we have been to most ports of call. It was a litlle cool from Seattle to Hawaii, then it starting getting very nice. We loved the small islands and snorkeling in Kona,Noumea, and Hamilton Island (Great Barrier Reef). The Komodo Dragons were very cool see. We enjoyed the history and the other wild life including Jumping Crockodiles, Kangaroos, and Koalas. If you like that kind of adventure, we recommend this trip.

It was OK by Cruiser17284367

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Infinity / Destination: Transpacific

We booked this cruise for the itinerary. Started in Vancouver Canada and ended in San Francisco. The ports were good! The cruising in between was very slow. The on board activities were fine. Much the same as usual.  (Exception.... Casino.... It was not very well managed. There were daily poker games listed in the itinerary but on the whole cruise there was only one table game that was played in 11 days. We tried to get the room manager to promote the game but.... not interested. Crap table had a $10 minimum and was totally empty the entire cruise. Why not bump it down to $5 and have some people actually play? Just a thought.) We've been on the Infinity several times. We had heard that it had been retrofitted. Not so much. It's dated. The new aft area is an improvement but has terrible seating for the movies/games on the big screen. I've never been a fan of cruise food. The buffet is awful! I can truly say that I went away hungry after any buffet meal. I don't mean to be a negative Nellie! On the whole we had a very nice experience but it was due to the ports. I had intended to book another cruise while we were on the ship, but the people in the Future Cruise Office were so off putting and unhelpful, I decided that it's time to explore another cruise line. (We're Captain's Cruise Elite.) Gee... after re-reading my post.... I guess I AM a negative Nellie!  Sorry about that! I've always been a Celebrity cruiser. This last one just wasn't up to par.

Surprised

Excellent Vacation! by mrorthmanbhs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We love RCCL. Staff were very friendly and food was terrific. The only negative was slow wi fi, which is understandable due to satellite accessibility, but as a result wi fi packages should cost less money.
