The Viking River Cruises are exceptional because they have approximately 90 guests, making it a more intimate and personal experience. There is time to relax and enjoy the tranquility of gliding along some of the world's most famous rivers and viewing the local countryside at a much slower pace. When you can have a vacation experience and not have a thing to complain about, it is truly a wonderful experience.

This was an excellent trip to Europe! Viking makes everything so smooth and easy! We loved each port and enjoyed the walking tours of the cities. The food on the ship is excellent with a variety of foods to choose from each day. Our room was extremely clean and our housekeeper came in 2x per day to make sure it looked perfect. I would highly recommend Viking for any trip!

The people sailing on the boat were wonderful. Avalon did a good job of pulling people together in Lake Como so we built relationships. The boat experience was below expectations. We expected it to be not as good as our past river cruise experience (Scenic) as it was lower cost, but it was significantly below. Avalon really needs to do some work.

Highly recommend visiting Portugal. We learned a lot and saw such gorgeous scenery. Even if I never got off the ship, I would've been satisfied. Going through the locks was an adventure in itself. It was nice not to have to make a decision about what to do - it was all arranged. The dinner at the winery was lovely - everything was so well planned. The trips to Salamanca, the archaeological site, the vineyards - all fabulous. But mostly, it was the crew that made the difference. From the attentive bartenders, table staff and front desk crew - they were really top notch.

it was our second river cruise on Viking finishing the second half, you will always compare it to the first which is hard to do, both cruises were excellent overall.

Great overview of Danube area and culture, delivered in a comfortable setting. My wife and I were in a party of twelve, with two other couples, a mother and daughter, a pair of sisters, and a pair of friends. Viking made it easy to arrange travel, actually get between the ship and the airports, see the cities, learn about the cultures, and so on. All of us had a great time! Doing it by cruise also maximizes the use of the time, as you can be en route from one place to another while you sleep, eat, etc., and I for one find it a lot easier to sleep on a river boat than on a plane, train, bus, etc. (This was our first *river* cruise, though I had been on an *ocean* cruise long ago, not with Viking.)

The Program Director was EXCELLENT...."George"....best we have had on a Viking Cruise. The ports of call briefs were made educational and enlightening. He had a wreath laying service at the cemetery at Normandy using our veteran passengers....very emotional.

This was our first European river cruise and while very different from Viking ocean cruises, we would do it again! Wonderful trip visiting 4 countries!

Well organized and fun cruise with many highlights.

This was our first Viking cruise. I would give it a 4/5 overall. Don’t plan on being entertained. Much more chill than I expected. Also, much older clientele than I expected. Average 60+ It’s a great way to see multiple cities and beautiful scenery along the way.

We enjoyed it very much. Can’t say I would do extensions again, however. Expensive and if hotel is far from sites it gets too complicated.

Overall, the cruise was outstanding. The food was very good. Service was excellent. The excursions were educational with excellent guides. Only disappointment was after being transported to the basil airport. There was no Viking agent available as promised to help with check-in and navigating the airport. Likewise on arrival in Heathrow, there was no Viking agent available as we had been led to believe.

We have ocean cruised 188 nights and this was our first river cruise. We paid for the best room on the ship but found out it was not worth the cost. We would have been fine in a smaller room. This was not a quiet cruise for the educated person. There were at least 4 large groups of people on this cruise and therefore it was a loud and drunken cruise. Not quiet elegance. The main dining room was loud and had only large tables. The food was ok but our friends said the fish was wonderful every night.

The cruise far exceeded our expectations and friends told us it would be great. The pace was perfect for us. All excursions exceeded expectations except the diamond thing. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. We highly recommend it. One issue was the flight reservations. I requested an upgrade and got tickets in main cabin. It required over 20 phone calls and my wife and I did not get seats together. Please review this process. Also I was told my name is incorrect in your database. How can I change this?

Overall, It was a wonderful time. Viking has got it together! I did want to note that your program director "Kane" was a phenomenal person. He sings, He gave one of the most fascinating talks on the life and works of Mozart. And is very personable and makes everyone feel he's there for them.

We had attended another river cruise which was much better than this cruise. Based on this cruise experience, we will stick with ocean cruises which had much better foods/drinks, ship board activities, and excursions.

This was supposed to be our first Viking River cruise in 2019 but got cancelled due to COVID. We're very happy to finally do this trip. It did not disappoint. The Lipizzaner Stable tour in Vienna was fantastic.

We had a fabulous time. The crew on the Impression did everything to make our trip first class all the way. The excursions were a great way to see each port and we also had some time on our own in each place to explore if we wanted to. The food on board was amazing and I appreciated that they always had a local authentic option to choose from. My only regret is it wasn't longer!
