River Cruises - Europe Cruise Reviews

I loved the ports of call and the tours but I would have loved to have had a slow walkers group as I am disabled; I was surprised that the Main deck was not accessible by the only small elevator. Food was good and the service was great.

This was our first river cruise and it far exceeded all of our expectations. There was not a single thing that was not perfectly executed. All of the crew were amazing and seemed to be genuinely nice people. Captain Patrick, our cruise manager Agnes, the Hotel manager Adile, the executive chef Agustinus, our maitre D Danilo, the purser Viktor, the first housekeeper Mariana and most importantly Ari our bartender and Tamas our musician whom with we ended each evening, were all over-the-top wonderful. We appreciated all the extra caring touches and especially loved that some of the crew (Tiago, Adile, Viktor, Agnes, Patrick) enjoyed dancing and socializing with us!

This is our third cruise on AmaWaterways, and the first on the AmaCello. We were once again very pleased with out time aboard the ship. The staff is, as always, awesome. The ship is clean and beautiful. The cabins are not huge, but it never felt crowded. The food and drink were exceptional. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Excellent cruise and a wonderful learning experience. I intend to travel again with Viking in the future.

Everything about AMA Kristina was Special. It is true, all is included, except gratuities to Tour Guides and Staff (at the end of the trip). They provide, advise, and have everything you can imagine. The ship is a Happy Place floating to take you to additional Happy Places. Can hardly wait to take another AMA Cruise! Their service is excellent, I wish I had purchased the Pre and Post Cruise options, AMA knows how to have fun!

This 'cruise' is different from most other Viking River cruises in that several of the ports were relatively undeveloped and uninteresting. They were docking ports and we had long bus rides to visit the wineries and attractions. We did enjoy Lisbon and Porto, as well as Salamanca in Spain. We will likely visit them separately in the future rather than taking a river cruise.

We were on the Rhine River with Avalon in Dec 2017. Based on our great experiences with that trip, we decided to return for the Danube. If we had the experience like we did in Dec 2018, we would not have considered rebooking. This trip was just plain ordinary with a couple of poor itinerary days. Imagery II Dec 2017 did lots of little things to make the time more festive. For example, little treats/gifts in the room each night, better themed meals, and staff who were more engaging and attentive. In addition to the absolutely terrible arrangements for Nuremberg, it seems that minor tweaks in the schedule would have improved the ports of call. It was apparent that there is very little expectation to do anything outside the guided tour. If you did the walking tours, minimal time to do anything else. I wouldn't recommend the Danube cruise itinerary for anyone other than those travelers who can only do the bare minimum of a trip. Disappointing.

We spent considerable time on a bus (6 hrs) transferring from Strasbourg to Antwep with a stop in Luxembourg on the way. We also were scheduled to sail Mon night to Breisach our first night, but didn't leave until Tuesday morn. Between the transfer and delayed departure from Basel we lost excursion time that was originally scheduled. Did enjoy seeing places we hadn't been before, but would have rather continued to Cologne area. We can cross river cruise off our bucket list, if we did another we may try another company based on discussion s with folks on board who've cruised with others and could compare.

Great cruise and the excursions were excellent with excellent guides. The ship staff were excellent.

Wonderful cruise. AMA Waterways continues to surpass expectations in all areas. The variety of shore excursions is outstanding.

We started the Cruise on the Viking Mani. The Crew and Staff were exceptional !! Changed ships midweek, to the Viking Eir, and was a little disappointed. In my opinion, the satff on the Eir were not as attentive to detail, as the Crew on the Mani. Overall Good Cruise.

We bought the extra travel decision for flight and appreciated that. We did a ship swap due to low river levels- this is not a problem! IT was handled very well. Great people on the cruise - met nice friendly folks.

We are a retired couple from Philadelphia. We have always enjoyed traveling and this was my dream trip. I choose the Seine cruise so that I could see Paris and my husband Normandy. Avalon is a wonderful line. The staff was wonderful in every way. All of the tour guides were enteraining and insightful. The staff was prepared for everything including bad weather. River cruising is a wonderful way to see at least part of a country. I highly recommend this cruise and Avalon.

Low water causing aborting of middle cruise was very disappointing. Avalon did the best they could to arranging alternative land facilities and transportation and were generous with 50% refund of cruise fare.

We did the add on of Prague prior to the cruise and we would HIGHLY recommend to other travelers. This was a beautiful city with lots to do. We stayed at the Cosmopolitan which AMA recommended and it was perfect!

The crew went above and beyond to please everyone! However, the water levels were so low we were unable erode on top of boat and enjoy the sunshine!

It was NOT a cruise. It was a sub-par bus tour. I will never book with Viking again.

We visited fabulous places and received a ton of information from guides about all the sites we visited. The crew on the ship was amazing, they treat you like royalty.

Two stops only half days. Too early morning starts.

I was very surprised that they had cabins that small. Not even a chair in our room.
