This was our honeymoon and first cruise so at least we got the bad times vow out of the way. by Yovan916

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

Let me start on a positive, the crew was great! Very friendly smiling and just plain approachable. That being said the cruise itself was horrible I'm guessing we picked a bad time of year... it was ALWAYS cold our fun day at sea was at the beginning and not fun. I don't get sea sick and this trip pushed the limits. The entire first night and most of the second day was a ridiculous amount of rocking like cartoon like rocking, i understand this day is supposed to be literally circling around at sea but could a better spot to circle be chosen? Maybe not in a windstorm? And the fact that your unlimited sodas doesn't count for room service is very odd. I mean the ONLY place to get soda is the bars? I'm glad i didn't bring a kid cuz they'd be going to the bar quite often and listening in on some colorful conversations.

Almost perfect cruise. by musicmrfixit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

The personal attention and friendliness of the crew and staff was over the top. On a scale of 1 - 10, I rate this an 11. We got to meet the captain, watch really good shows and comedy acts, got to sing along and play the piano with the Piano Bar singer, Steve. The food in the dining area for suppers was quality gourmet, and even the hosts and hostesses remember my name night after night. That was the good.

The bad: the food in the Lido buffet was like cardboard, only warmed up and not made from scratch. So-so food, edible but not memorable. The charges for drinks also mysteriously appeared on our bank statement for purchases we didn't make, and now we can't get them removed for several days, if at all. No statement or accounting was ever given to us regarding what purchases were made, except for the receipts I kept for each transaction. The clientele aboard were typical casino type tourists and party animals. I would have liked to see a little more for the more sophisticated audience. All in all it was a great experience.

Good but not great by junaid59

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

The food quality, variety and entertainment (shows, comedy, etc) could be better. There were limited shows for entertainment and the ones that were there were either for young kids or adults only (R+) .... No PG kind of entertainment

We enjoyed our time on the ship and the experience overall was great.  The staff was great the room was always clean.  The food was very good and the wait staff was awesome.  We never felt like we were in a large crowd or had to wait in long lines.

Better experience this time! by adaen29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

It was a better experience this time around. We did this cruise last year and the food choices were really bad. This year the was was much better. Entertainment still very weak. A lot of work still need to be done. The services is also weak, the restaurant servers need to be better trained on how to serve in the dining area. Servers need to be more friendly. The cruise director was weak, not the best director or entertainer. Not funny at all or interesting for that matter. The entertainment need lot of improving, only 8 people for a show, 4 sings and 4 dances, do not really makes a Broadway show! Very weak, poor! Most when competing with other cruise lines like Norwegian cruise line, excellent entertainment, top of the line entertainment and upstanding services. Also a whole day at sea to get to Catalina island is terrible! I live in Los Angeles and it do take a whole day at sea to get to Catalina island, but the cruise you want us spending our money onboard, that's terrible! To keep us circling around for a day and half, just because you can! With no regard for for us, just because of money! Why not stay over night at Catalina port. To much money for the cruise line to pay? Not right to us! I never get cruise ship sick and I did this time, it was really bad all the moving around, it was so bad that the show had to be change to just singing with not dancing. It was a bad show any way but it made it even worse. Overall only the food was a nice experience. Keep trying there is a lot of improvement to come.

NCL is the Worst cruise I've ever taken by cctrn821

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The best part of the cruise was the entertainment, which was outstanding. Everything else was the worst I've ever experienced and I will never cruise with NCL again. The food was substandard, the ship was dirty and not maintained, and there was virtually no service. Their drink packages do not include bottled water or specialty coffee, which is the very first I've come across in 20+ cruises. I think k this is very pretty!! The staff is NOT very friendly with the exception of my cabin steward who was wonderful. I dined in a variety of strings and was disappointed. The only area that was decent dining was chin chin. Even carnival cruises surpassed NCL by a mile. The ship is in need of repair. Public bathrooms were discussing dirty. It took 2 hours to disembark and I missed my plane. I couldn't have been more disappointed!!

Your cancellation policy sucks by MaureenBooth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The cruise itself was great but my daugher and her husband couldn't make it at the last minute.  I had paid for the cruise and I had two granddaughters who were willing to go in their place.  Your representatives refused to allow that because it was not "company policy" to change the names on the room.  It was totally paid for and it was a cruise in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary so having another family member there would have been nice.  How hard is it to change the name of a client on a computer?  But no, it is "company policy".  It makes no sense to me or anyone else I have discussed this with that since I had paid for the room and wasn't trying to do anything illegial or unethical to the cruise line that we could not invite someone else to take the place of the person on the listing.  It makes no sense whatsoever!  If I was trying to screw the cruise line that would be one thing, but all I wanted to do was to get another person from my own family to come on a cruise that was already paid for and looked forward to.

I will not be using Norwegian Cruise Line again and I am telling anyone who asks me not to use you as well.  Your motto on the phone was "Customer satisfaction is our top priority."  Well, in my case, there was no customer satisfaction at all.

3-nights would have been better than 4 by yuanhsu888

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

We thought overall was a nice break for us.  The first day sailing to Catalina Island was going around and around on the sea since it was so close to Long Beach, CA. That was the rockiest day I had ever cruised. The nightly entertainment had to be modified so that the cruise line won't put the entertainers in danger.

The last night's entertainment was great, just like what we expected from Carnival. Overall, the food was good.  We were Ok with paying extra for Lobster or Surf and Turf since the price of cruise did not change much since 2008.  This was necessary for cruise line to operate and the $20 charge still a good deal for the quality of the food.

A great cruise with great food and even better customer service. I will most definitely be doing this cruise again. I enjoy the longer cruises more than the shorter ones.

Two day Cabo/ puerto trip by Nacole86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Miracle / Destination: Mexico

My favorite port was Puerto Vallarta I prefered the rainforest scenery, but Cabo had beautiful views as well. Lands End is a definite must see, along with Lovers Beach and divorce Beach.  Puerto had beautiful lush scenery, we opted for a city tour which enabled us to get some really great pictures and an opportunity to visit a few different shops and we even had time to enjoy some fajitas at a mountain top resturant.  The ship was amazing. I loved the literary themes through the ship such as Dr Frankensteins Lab (the nightclub), Mad Hatter's Ball Lounge (Comdedy and movies). Gatsby's Secret Garden is a great quiet area to watch the waves indoors and relax or read. The breakfast/brunch menu in Bacchus is really nice as well as the menus offered at dinner. Take the time to try the local dishes offered at dinners they were amazing. The Pirate pizza is definitely one of the best. Thin crispy oven hot pizza in a few different variations, always my late night stop!! All in all I liked the Carnival Miracle and enjoyed the itinerary although next time I'll stop in Mazatlan instead of  the two days in Cabo.

The Fun in Carnival is Gone by jayaltenhofen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Miracle / Destination: Mexico

I sailed on the Carnival Miracle from April 22-29th with my two stepdaughters and their families ages 3-14. I have been on 15 cruises, many of them with Carnival. I must say, the fun factor is gone on Carnival. The lack of a social director out on deck during the midday is very noticeable. As are BBQs on deck. No live band during the noontime hours by pool. The Miracle sorely lacking in amenities. No outdoor movie screen (common these days), just one specialty restaurant, no special features other than mini-golf. You basically have two choices for food: buffet and main dining room. While we enjoyed the comic acts, the shows were all very similar singing and dancing with little variety. The water slide in the back of the ship was slow and poorly placed. The Dr. Suess characters need to be more visible. Movies are nice but you need to have at least one that is animated and geared for the 3-10 yr old crowd.

Drunk and covered in Beer by michaeljmoser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Mexico

I have been on several cruises, but never have I cruised with Carnival and I will doubt I would in the future.  The ship was clean, well appointed and our attendant was very helpful.  We reserved a suite for our trip, we appreciate the benefits when you travel as first class as possible.  I traveled with my wife and 5 year son, the first night there was a cute little towel animal on the bed, every cruise does it, my little boy enjoyed it. The problem is they never did it again, every cruise I have been on, (this is the first one with a child) every night there was a towel animal was on the bed, it would have been a nice touch.  Cruising as a Suite passenger on other Flags  I have never been been charged for room service, never up charged for an item on the dinner menu.  One of the reasons I like to cruise is because the food is so amazing.  Not so on Carnival, the food was blah and a little worse than chain restaurant food.  The main problem is the premise that Carnival is a family friendly cruise line, that just is not true.  I was accosted at least twice by drunk passengers, had insults hurled at me by drunk people and had a drunk female attempt to poke a writing pen in my nose.  Passengers were so drunk they were falling down, not an environment that I would ever subject my minor son to again.  I could not understand the bar tenders who would continue to serve obviously drunk people. Would it be that Carnival continues to serve because it is the only profit center on the ship? How much would Carnival lose if they ordered their employees to stop serving drunk people?  Remember, when your passengers are all drunk you can serve them crappy food and half assed service, they won't remember anyway, but I will remember.

Booze Cruise by kaym327

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

This is definitely a party cruise.  The "Cheers" package costs just under $200 per person (plus tax of about $0.87 per drink), and, although some passengers definitely took advantage of it, it really did not seem worth it for us.  75% of people on the boat were wearing motion sickness patches and everyone in my group complained about how choppy the water was.  You can really feel the movement, especially in the dining room.  Overall, if you want a rowdy time and to spend a day in Ensenada, you can't beat the value, but you shouldn't expect to relax too much on board.  Also remember to bring warm clothes.  It is almost always cold when you are outside on the boat.

What a great way to see Mexico for the first time!  A great way to celebrate our anniversary, too. Warm and caring employees, good food and great excursions. Lots of activities to keep you busy on sea days.  Fun and exciting nightly shows.

Overall poor customer service by lchope

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Overall the customer service was deplorable, the basic response to any complaint was who cares.  The food was average at best and the specialty restaurants only serve a variation of the main dining.  The mini-suite was very small compared to previous cruises that I have taken.  Bottled water was another issue, I spent almost $80.00 for two for a week's worth of water, highway robbery.  The general staff were friendly, the wait staff in the restaurants were not.

Wonderful Late Spring Get Away by sheilakparra

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Norwegian is a wonderful cruise line, my husband and I have sailed with them numerous times and have never been disappointed.  This was our second time cruising the Mexican Rivera and will probably be our last.  The second stop on the cruise was in such a poor area and the beach tour we did went thought a dirty, extremely poor area and wasn't what I expected.  Recommend Norwegian, just not this route.

Awesome experience! by RyEden2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Imagination / Destination: Mexico

The staff onboard the Carnival Imagination was simply amazing! Especially on decks 10 and 11. Where Richard, from the Red Frog bar, and Jay, from the Blue Iguana, were waiting! Those 2 were awesome! My kids loved that they remembered our names and usually knew what it were going to have to drink. Will definitely cruise with Carnival again. Thank you for a wonderful, and memorable experience with my kids!

A very fun trip by sguidi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

This is the 5 th Mexican cruise for us, You will NOT go hungry. Some places to eat are better than others, by far! For some reason on this cruise the employees did not seem as happy as they do on other cruise lines. The ship is older and the entertainment is not as good as other lines i have been on. Bingo prizes are much smaller than other cruises. I believe they use Bingo to make up a lot of profit for them. The pool was closed 2 times due to "accidents", and that was unfortunate. But for the price i would do it again noting what i said above.
