A little disappointed. by ManyTimeCruiser

Entertainment was repeated. Food was satisfactory, not exceptional - menu was even repeated one evening. Desserts unimaginative. Too many onboard activities were at an extra fee. Employees onboard were exceptional, almost every employee greeted us and were extremely courteous. We had an inside stateroom that our steward kept very clean. But it was quite small - my wife and I could not get ready at the same time without bumping into each other. We have traveled on 12-15 cruises, and this was probably our least favorite.

Great vacation by Tahveen

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I had an amazing time on Liberty of the Seas sailing on Sept 8th 2013. The ports of calls were a great choice, the excursions were in variety. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation this might not be it, because with 5 ports of calls you are busy every day only one day to catch-up. But if you don't mind being up and on the go you will have a blast. Every port was great the weather was great the variety of excursions offered was great and to match almost every personality.

Europe Cruise by Gracie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Cruising on the Norwegian Epic to visit Europe was an outstanding experience. The cruise staff was diligent in providing detailed information about things to do at each country as well as port arrival and departure times. The cruise offered bus services to the train station which allowed for access into the city of destination. If touring a with an official tour group and for some reason the group has a late return due to a problem the cruise ship can be notified of the emergency. The ship is freestyle cruising which takes adjusting, because you are obligated to arrange dinner times, show times etc. Shows often filled quickly, I recommend booking prior to cruising or immediately upon boarding the ship. The Manhattan Dining room often had a line for dinner, and a wait as long as 20 minutes. I really enjoyed the Blue Man group, but other entertainment could be better. I have cruised with Capitol Jazz and spoiled by the outstanding level of entertainment offered. After ending a cruise with Capitol Jazz, I left having enjoyed the Ports toured as well as the outstanding entertainment. Some evening party events were scheduled for the H2O which is on the upper deck outside, so if cold or rainy there was no other accommodation.

Mediterranean Cruise by tm2881

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Overall very happy with this cruise. This was our first ever cruise. And first time to Europe. We were celebrating our honeymoon. It was a great first time in Europe as everything is taken care of by Royal Caribbean. From the second you get to the port they take care of everything. They make it very easy both on the boat and with the excursions. We opted for a room with a balcony and I highly recommend this option. It was nice to be able to get away from the crowds. The breakfast and lunch dining was usually a bit chaotic but dinners were nice and relaxed. There was always something going on on th eship if you opted out of the excursions. The excursions were expensive but again they take care of everything. No waiting in lines for anything, the transportation was all arranged, and the boat will wait for you if your excursion is late (they wont if you book trips on your own).

Great Mediterrean cruise by Cruisingpj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Just returned from a cruise on Liberty of the Seas. The services on this cruise were fantastic. Meals were incredible and the shows were first rate. Favorite ports were Villle France sur la mer, Rome, and Naples. The white night party was lots of fun and the various games on board, like The Quest were excellent. I'd recommend this Mediterrean cruise on this ship anytime. Would love to do it again.

THIS CRUISE SAVED OUT VACATION, AS WE WERE NOT IMPRESSED WITH ROME. WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME ! SECOND TIME WITH NORWEGIAN, FIRST TIME ON THE EPIC. GREAT BOAT ! LOTS OF ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS, DANCED EVERY NIGHT AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. FOOD VERY GOOD, BUT NORWEGIAN IS MOVING AWAY FROM FOOD INCLUDED. THEY SEEM TO BE CHARGING NOW FOR MANY OPTIONS. $5.OO FOR PIZZA AND CHARGING FOR ROOM SERVICE IS CHEAP AND PETTY. THEY NEED TO CHANGE THIS. THE CRUISE DIRECTOR WAS EVERYWHERE WE LOOKED AND REALLY HELPED EVERY NIGHT BY WATCHING ON THE TV INFO. THE TECHNOLOGY USED TO KEEP US INFORMED WAS VERY GOOD ALSO. WE SAIL TWICE A YEAR AND WILL WAIT FOR THE EPIC TO RETURN TO FLORIDA.

Legend of the Seas: Royal Caribbean line or Ship Customer Service Issue? by Wine2Roses

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

First, the plus: This recently refurbished ship was lovely...balcony room was great (only way to cruise). All accommodations, from the stateroom to the pools to the dining areas, were very nicely done. The spa was fabulous...very relaxing. Stateroom attendant kept accommodations very clean & well organized. Loved the new touch-screen ship info boards...always knew where, what, & when. Most staff were very friendly & upbeat. The Western Mediterranean ports were great, & the shore excursion choices were many & varied & organized. Now, the "room for improvements": Main dining room service was good, not great; the assistant waiter seemed to be more on top of things than the main waiter...he seemed to "trip" over himself when describing the menus, often seemed like he was reading from a script. Food was very lackluster & served only lukewarm...once or twice actually cold & had to be sent back. Much better food & service on a recent 3-day cruise out of Los Angeles on Carnival. Although, the stateroom attendant kept the room clean & well organized, there were times when attention to detail was sorely lacking & you distinctly got the idea he would rather be somewhere else...whenever there was an issue. One evening, he left behind the laundry bag which had been laid out (per custom), & we had to take to Guest Relations at midnight. He apologized for the oversight, but you could tell his sincerity was forced. The next problem also occurred regarding laundry (maybe laundry isn't this ship's forte): Clothing had been laid out for cleaning & pressing; yes, the bag was taken, but the laundry was not returned the next day by 5:00 p.m. as clearly stated on the ship's own form. We had to call down @ 6:30 p.m., stateroom attendant brought it up...minus one piece. That article of clothing, 3 weeks later, still hasn't been found. Now, the "minus": Consistent policies. A very real problem for Royal Caribbean. In all communications to the guests---ship newsletter, public announcements, ship channel on stateroom TV---SMOKING ONLY IN DESIGNATED AREAS. We were in a non-smoking stateroom, on a non-smoking deck, with a sign on the balcony: PLEASE REMEMBER SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED ON THIS BALCONY. The last morning (thank goodness) brought a rough day on the sea, our balcony door was left open for fresh air as my husband was suffering from seasickness, and, of course, in come wafts of smoke. When Guest Relations was called & asked if a general announcement could be made in the rooms (obviously, no one could go door-to-door to find the culprit) just to remind all guests of the smoking parameters, we were told that guests "are allowed to smoke on the balconies." When we informed the young lady that there is clearly a sign on the balcony saying "no," we were told 1.) smoking on the balcony is o.k. as long as the door is closed (huh?) and 2.) she would send someone up from housekeeping to look at that sign, because it shouldn't be there & she would call us back to let us know the outcome (huh? again). Never did see housekeeping, never got a call back, & when the supervisor came up hours later with regard to the missing laundry item, he repeated the same thing, refused to comment on the inconsistencies, & refused to come out to the balcony to acknowledge the sign. Get the staff & your policies on the same page, Royal Caribbean!!!!! All in all, we had a wonderful time, mostly because of the ports visited, the other guests we came to know & enjoy being with, & because we were there to celebrate a special anniversary & birthday. Royal Caribbean just happened to be the mode of transportation.

water taxi atmosphere by Greygoose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Favolosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Except for Palma, the ship adds new passengers and debarks others, making chaotic lifeboat drills a daily occurrence. No afternoon naps are possible! As English speakers we were seriously disadvantaged: English tours were cancelled due to lack of participants, yet with a no refund policy we were obliged to take tours in Italian or Spanish. Waste of time, in many cases, and very frustrating and disappointing as we chose this ship's itinerary specifically for its cultural activities.. Wish we'd been warned ahead of time that the cruise was not suitable for English speakers. Felt like outsiders most of the time! Even the admin.agents, restaurant people, and tour desk folks hardly spoke English, and when we tried to communicate our concerns the attitude seemed to be "Get lost."

Fine Experience Overall by Bbishop01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The Norwegian Epic Mediterranean cruise overall was a good experience. Staff members on board the ship were excellent!! We really enjoyed meeting, talking, and finding out things about them and their lives on and off the ship. They were always courteous, professional, and ready to serve. The food was ok. At times it was very good and some dishes were rather bland and uneventful. I did like the fact that we had to pay an extra $2.50 for fresh squeezed orange juice or regular sodas. The entertainment was not good. We struggled to find something that was worth seeing that was complimentary. Ports of call was good and the disembarking process went very smooth.

30th anniversary celebration by Ptownevans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Excellent cruise. Not for first time cruisers. Up early every day to explore the great ports. Rome in July is really crowded, keep that in mind. Amalfi coast is spectacular. Monaco a big positive surprise. Spend extra days in Barcelona, such a FANTASTIC city, we spent 6 extra days there and LOVED it. Food on cruise was ok, not great.

Great Experience with Carnival Sunshine by inuchkee2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We have never cruised with Carnival before and were a little bit wary however Carnival Sunshine was great. The service was great, the food was great and our cabin was wonderful as well. The comedians and the main entertainers were very entertaining. There were little things we did not love but it would not stop us from going on Carnival again. Didn't love the layout of ship. We also felt that the buffet was delicious however there were not many choices. It was limited. And they close it down at 9:30pm and there are not many places left to eat after that unless you want pizza every night. The magician and mind reader weren't that great, But overall the cruise was fabulous.

NCL EPIC European Review by Epiccruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We stayed on the EPIC for a Med cruise the last week in June 2013. We booked the Haven Suite 17027. Don't book this room. It is directly under a sundeck and staircase. Every morning at 6:30 AM we were awoken by the crew un-stacking lounge chairs and dragging them around the sun deck. At 10 PM the deck in closed, but not locked. Teenagers hang out there unsupervised to all hours of the morning running around and the noise keeps you up until 3 AM. If you book the French restaurant, make sure the circus isn't going on above you. It is like you are eating in a bomb shelter is it is. Literally the tiles will fall off the ceiling while eating.

Disappointing Cruise line by gregwin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship was nice, the room great, the organization for embarking and disembarking was great. Was nickel and dimed!!! 10 restaurants were pay for vs. 4 that were part of the cruise. Since there was not set time for lunch dinner, don't see the same staff thus there is no relationships which made the service really sub par. Even the room person was not that friendly. I have been on about 8 cruises and this one had poor service and food. Even 1 of the "Pay" restaurant's food was subpar. Staff get auto tipped thus service was poor. I would not recommend this cruise.
