After being on other Cruise Ships that were not Norwegian, I was not happy at all with anything on the ship. I felt it was under staffed.

cruise to nowhere s/b booze cruise! by JillM11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

One of the smallest ships in their fleet. Tough to be out on in storm. Needed more staff. Had to wait more than an hour to eat. Freestyle dining equated to waiting in line to be seated for over an hour. Tough to do with a 9 yr old. The room was decent.

A Somewhat Wonderful Cruise by CherylM12

Staff was wonderful once we boarded. Food was excellent. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible for almost the entire cruise so inside areas of the ship were really crowded.

Not too bad for a weekend cruise by MaryS40

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was fabulous. We sailed on NCL's Dream, for an older ship (built 1992) it was very clean, no wear and tear noticed. The beds are set up so the head is against the side-wall, not the window-wall, so when the ship rocked (which it does alot in the Atlantic!), I felt like a baby being rocked to sleep.

nightmare cruise by Joanne442717731

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

wait time at port was over 2 hours, 2 lines, latitudes, and first timers...the first timers actually got on before us. went to super at 6 :30, the italian resteraunt, we were told next seating was at 8:45, we saw lots of tables vacant, we were told they had tables but not enough help. went to the casino, my husband and 3 others waited over one hour to be paid off, 1 person was working, fixing machines, paying off etc. i ordered a coke at the bar...went to pour coke int0 the glass and noticed lipstick stains on the rim...went to the bar to exchange glass bartender could not find a clean glass...he went in back and cleaned the one i had...had breakfast the next morning....waited over an hour to be served...and my toast was cold...we overheard waiter telling a talble of 6 that they did not expect the crowd....all we heard was complaints even from travel agents. one person had been on 32 cruises and said this one did not even come on the bottom... portions of food was small....menu was not good....this actually was a trial to see what the ship was like going to bermuda...we have been on the majesty to bermuda 5-8 times. the dream had bigger staterooms but overall service, size etc was well below the majesty. we really felt bad for people who have booked the boston bermuda ...oh another thing....i bought a carton of cigs, and a shirt and had to pay duties and taxes on them....i guess they decided to do this the last minute,,,we were told because we did not go to a port we had to pay the duties and taxes...this was a cruise to nowhere...lastly...boat drill was a joke...there were not enough life jackets so people just walked away...good thing we never encountered an emergency. this was the ship the dream.we sailed on a 3 day cruise to nowhere out of boston on may 9-11...i do not reccomend this ship.

2 nights too many for this 2 nt cruise! by CherylT3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The Dream needs to be euthanized! Couldn't eat without a reservation. So much for Freestyle! If you didn't have a reservation you couldn't eat until 10pm and by then everything was gone. Can't get breakfast after 9:00am! No beer left on board by 4pm on the first night! Never had a top sheet on my bed just a dirty comforter that I am sure had not been washed recently. Did not change my sheets. Water pipe burst on Sunday in front of my cabin and flooded my cabin entryway. Had to evacuate in a moments notice!

Are you ready to wait in long lines? by Carole11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

We waited in lines all weekend. I think 45 minutes to get a drink or to have a meal is unacceptable. The food was horrible!!! No one seemed to know what was going on. The itenary was boring. The casino was overcrowed and smokey. We had to wait 45 minutes for a 20.00 payoff. Then you had to fill out paper work as if you won millions. This was a test cruise to see if we would like a 7 day cruise, I will never go on another cruise. It was not worth the money or my time.

Awfully done. by La69573015

Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I went on a 2-night cruise to nowhere back in December and it was on a brand new NCL ship and it was much better. I recommended to my friends and boyfriend that we go on this cruise based on my last experience thinking it would be a fun time but unfortunately I was wrong. Before we even left port, they were understocked at the bar. However, I had to wait almost a half hour to find this out because the service was so bad due to understaffing on the ship. This was the norm any other time we went to the bar. These issues made for some very angry people on the ship. The other gripe I had about the weekend was that last cruise, we were sailing the whole time, reducing the amount of movement one could feel while at sea; this time (probably to save on fuel costs, which I understand) they parked the ship at sea all day Saturday. This meant that the ship was just moving with the waves, causing all of my party to feel seasick the entire day. This was one of the biggest concerns of one of my friends who was skeptical about going, and I assured her that we would not be able to feel any type of movement. Again, I was wrong. I tend not to refer things like people for jobs or places to try unless I feel really passionate about them. I thought that this cruise would be just as good, if not better than the last one I went on, which is why I rallied three others to join me this time around. Unfortunately, this cruise has been one that I really regret, and I will most likely never use NCL again.

Horrible time by RonL4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Being the first cruise I have ever been on I do not have alot to reffrence. But, I can tell you this, when it came to service and luxury this is not the place. The ship is outdated. The crew was not in sync. The food quality was poor. This made all of the passangers angry. It was just a horrible time. Glad that it is over.

The Norwegian NIGHTMARE by KarenM39

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The staff was disorganized, ill-equipped to handle all of the passengers and actually looked like they were surprised to see us. It was a horrible experience from start to finish. The food (when you could find it was inedible) and the bars were understocked and overcrowded. There was no beer left on the ship 1hour into the cruise. The ship was unclean, the bathrooms were dirty, ugh! Don't EVER cruise with Norwegian!

Norwegiam Gem is a real Gem by CarolH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

A new ship is always so clean, plus this gave you a feeling of spaciousness too. I had a inside room, 1st time in a long time, but it was a 2 day trip to nowhere, so figured it was ok. Well, it was really very ok, and the bathroom was roomy too. Shower stayed warm on this cold weekend. Fluffy winter blankets were on the beds. Personnel were helpful when needed.

Would not do it again by CharL

Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

It is hard to get around the ship. We did not like the design of common areas. Passenegers were promised a football game. The ship got large numbers of people into bars spending money and kept announcing the game will be on in a minute. It never happened and people were very upset.

A nice getaway by AllisonA

Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

My husband and I sailed this past weekend on the "cruise to nowhere" out of Boston for two nights. This was my 10th cruise and my husband's 2nd cruise. We arrived at the Black Falcon terminal in Boston at 1 PM, which was the stated embarkation time on our tickets. We always like to arrive first thing and it turned out they started boarding at 11 AM. The check in process was a big DISASTER! It was not organized well - you'd walk in the door and be told a number (we were 15) and that group would then wait. Individuals could then "change their number" just by going to stand with another group. There was noone checking in at this moment - just people waiting in groups (not an organized line) to check in (which only took 5 minutes when we got to the desk) and then a very long line to go through security (apparently a metal detector had broken at this point so there was only one operational). Part of the problem was also that everyone was bringing their own luggage rather than having it delivered to our cabin later in the day. There were no embarkation photos, however we saw later in the cruise that there had been photos taken between 11 and 1 (when according to my ticket we weren't even supposed to be embarking!). We made it to our cabin by 2:30 in time to go down to the Grand Pacific dining room for lunch before the 3:30 fire and boat drill, and our muster station was the Grand Pacific dining room, so we lucked out and didn't have to rush through lunch. The Boston area was expecting bad whether on Saturday night and Sunday so we were concerned that this may affect the seas as well - it did. According to the tracker that was shown on one of the TV channels in our stateroom we were about 4 miles off the coast of Cape Cod and starting Saturday evening well into Sunday evening the seas were rough, but not as rough as I'd seen on my last cruise out of Boston. The ship seemed to handle the waves much better than other ships we'd been on - possibly because of the size of the ship - and the Captain kept us informed of the weather. I was surprised that he didn't bring us south a little more away from the bad weather as much as he could - it was like he had us in the midst of it. On Sunday there was a Patriots game and it was a big hooplah about trying to get us up on that satellite to view it, which never happened - personally I don't understand why anyone needed to go on a two day cruise away from it all just to sit an entire afternoon and watch a game. But NCL tried to get the satellite but wasn't able to - at least they tried to keep the passengers happy in this area. Getting off the ship on Monday morning in Boston turned out to be just as much a disaster as getting on. With only one gangway for such a huge ship it took much longer than expected. My husband and I decided to wait awhile until those that were in a rush got off. At 9:30 we were up in the Garden Cafe and they announced that it was the last call for all passengers to disembark and then 10 minutes later announced they would be closing the gangway! So everyone then rushed down and ended up filling the stairways and the elevators were then taking individuals down to that level and that would then overflow the gangway. It was not well thought out. A ship of this size should have two working gangways during embarkation and disembarkation. Maybe it's just that Boston's terminal could not handle two gangways, I don't know. Overall it was a nice cruise and the ship is absolutely beautiful, particularly our balcony stateroom. My husband and I were glad to get away for a relaxing weekend and were happy to be able to get the chance to see the new ship.

Extremely polite staff by SueJ

Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was nice. Beautiful interior. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the fact that if you got on the wrong elevator either in the back, mid, or front of the ship you couldn't get to certain places on the ship from those elevators. You were blocked off and had to walk to the right elevator and go up or down from that point. Not very good for the elders that were traveling with us.

Pork Chops and Chicken Cruising by MaureenS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

This is Norwegian at its best, or worst depending on what you are looking for. If you enjoy Pork Chops, Chicken, or anything else you can cook at home (Faster by the way) Then this is the cruise line for you! Try not to look at the daily bulletin because they don't do what they promise for the day, ie The Patriots Vs Jets game on December 16 2007! They had plenty of reasons why we did'nt see it but not a lot of sympathy for all the Pats fans when we did'nt see it. Do not eat at the Blue Lagoon unless you want your party to all eat alone, as the food get's delivered to each person seprately. Also be ready to wait up to 2 hours for your breakfast or dinner in the restaurants you can get a beeper but don't go away, you'll miss out on one fine pork chop meal. Make sure you pack plenty of snacks on this boat, there are times during the day when you cannot get food (except the miserable Blue Lagoon or the Mexican restaurant, which you could starve at before you get any service!) Even the bar service on this ship was slow! What a pity! I do suggest that you get on board and find, Nigel Leventic he is the restaurant Manager, you are going to need him to get any service, then go and find Klaus Lugmaier, he is the Hotel Director and if you want any kind of sevice in your stateroom he can lend a sypathetic ear but no much else. Better yet, bully up and pay the extra money to go on a real cruise line, eat Lobster and filet mignon, and be treated Royally or like a Princess, or a Celebrity, or have a Carnival of a time. Leave this cruise line to the cheap and unfamous and invest in a great time instead of a waste of time. Norwegians new tag line EXPECT NOTHING AND GET IT!!!!
