Do not Take Older Teens on a This Cruise by don666

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The Youth Director on the Inspiration was absolutely draconian. The 15-17 year olds have no appropriate \"club\". It was a sterile room with one x-box, one Wii and a TV screen. The Welcome party was a disaster as half of the kids who showed up did not know that (at this age) they had to be \"registered\" to come into the club. A total of about 12 showed up and half were turned away. The remaining half dozen left because there were no enough kids there to \"meet up\". The Youth Director, when asked why the \"unregistered\" kids could not have been allowed in the club replied that they had to have a medical release signed by the parents. When we pointed out that they were all over the ship without a medical release, she became frustrated, upset and stalked off saying she was going to \"print out the policy\" for us. But, we waited for quite a long time at Guest Services and she never returned. It was a completely unsatisfactory experience for our two guys. They were never able to connect with anyone else their age during the whole cruise. We bumped into another mom of two teens, 16 and 17, who had pre-registered and she confirmed the \"Welcome Party\" disaster and said her kids had gone by a couple of times, but there was nothing to do. I would not do another cruise on Carnival and I would certainly not recommend this for anyone with kids in the older teen age group.

We love the ship Freedom of the Seas. We do recommend it.. We just felt the food was not as good as in the past. They now allow smoking in the Whole Casino... Bartender in the wINDJAMMER was not always at the bar..Had long waits for him to appear.

mixed feelings by dustyloffarelli

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Century / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The ships layout is very bad. You cannot walk straight through to the dining room on both levels from across the ship nor the theater. The ship is a nice size and comfortable public areas for the amount of people it holds however it is showing serious signs of wear and is due for a makeover. The staff seemed despondent compared to prior celebrity Salings.

Wanted to try a Holland America cruise by cfpmike

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Koningsdam

Because of the lack of good music throughout the ship, this will probably be our last Holland America cruise, we will be returning to either Princess Cruise Lines or Celebrity cruise lines.

All good and very relaxing. The Princess plus package was worth the extra as the WIFI was very good and we don't drink a lot but the fresh squeezed OJ was great and specialty coffees too. We love the medallion!!

Amazing ship and many guests has been on for 30 days by bcts08

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Majestic Princess

I frequently go on cruises between Vancouver and Victoria to take a quick break from work and home. This was the best experience yet. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. Food, activities kept me busy every day. Entertainment was enjoyable and the spa pass was a well used. Many people on the ships had gotten on in Australia and already been on the ship for 30 days and then continuing on to Alaska after Seattle. They picked a great ship to do this!

Lots of pros AND cons by KarenP59

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Summit

This was our first Celebrity experience, but we're seasoned cruisers (mostly on HAL). We'll give Celebrity another try because we selected this ship and we knew it was an older ship. The itinerary would have been great to experience because I had never been to Catalina OR Victoria, BC. We were really looking for to both! We understand things happen.

Never taking a Celebrity Cruise again by doux

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Summit

Dining: Although we had early dining and had confirmed table (card was in our stateroom) we were booted within 2 hours of dinner and placed on anytime dining. With 2 small children in tow, this absolutely reprehensible. On top of that our waiter wasn’t friendly at all, we tried to greet him cheerily and he would just hand the menu and walk away. He had the capacity, he greeted his fellow ethnic breather quite courteously. Friendliness: Majority of cruise staff was not friendly and unhelpful, when asking where an food item was at the buffet or where a café was, we were informed “somewhere over there maybe” is it not their job to at least try and guide you in the right direction? Rarely anyone greeted us or anyone for that matter Le Petit Chef: we made extra for the specialty dining at Qsine, from the description we were beyond excited, when I tell you that menu was indescribably lackluster, we were utterly disappointed. We start of with a burrata that was served during lunch earlier in the day. Next we get a seafood stew that was lukewarm at best with overcooked shellfish that was rubbery. The lobster was passible but not filling, then we ended the night with a scoop of ice cream. We paid extra for specialty dining but ended up with buffet food that wasn’t even executed well. When discussing this with the maître d Mr. B, his response was, well that’s what you signed up for! What kind of attitude is that? You all keep asking for feedback and to give you a 10, but with that service? Absolutely not! Sharps container: this is absolutely laughable; our group member was provided a container for her fertility injections and no further instructions. They wait until 9AM of the last day of the cruise to inform they needed to collect said container. Port time was 7AM, we literally all left with our luggage. Inform someone when right when you provide them the container, don’t reprimand someone for not being fully informed of the protocol. Kid friendly: your ship is absolutely not kid friendly, the lack of activities with proper supervision and instruction is appalling. I went on Royal Caribbean last year and it was like night and day. Missed port: bad weather happens and there’s nothing we can do about it but find a way to entertain your paid guests. Alternatively, try to find another port to settle in or, if that is not an option, set up additional activities for us. The cavalier attitude was so unnerving. I never want to go on a Celebrity cruise ever again.

Very disappointing by michelecruises

No flexibility to replace cancelled port of calls. No added activities so we were basically stuck in our rooms since the pools and decks were closed because of the choppy sea.

California coastal cruise by cmeeka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess

Trip overall was good, but we like the regal princess ship better than the crown princess. The ship layout was hard to learn in comparison, shop selection was underwhelming, and food options not as good. Also too cold for the pool so we were glad we brought card games to play!

We adopted our cabin steward! by deniselevine6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess

This was my first cruise on Princess and loved it. The ship was beautiful and comfortable, shipmates were interesting and inspirational. Many had taken NUMEROUS cruises on Princess. Our cabin steward was a delight and felt like family by the end of the cruise. Disembarking was easy with lots of help and we are looking forward to our next trip with Princess.

Underwhelmed and looking for answers... by Pbbobkanobi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Discovery Princess

Overall I would say we had great expectations for Princess but were sadly disappointed overall due to the lack of quality food and service. We will be taking another Celebrity cruise to Alaska in July and am looking forward to it so much more after this lackluster experience with Princess. We also have a mystery $252.73 charge on our credit card that I am trying to get Princess to explain since we made zero onboard purchases other tha a few drink upgrades for $3. I will be disputing this charge with my bank since I cannot get an answer out of Princess. Buyer BEWARE!!

Spring Break in the Pacific Coast by AlanAndGlory

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss

First, get the negative out of the way, none of which was NCL's fault. Easter came early this year, so it didn't occur to me when I booked this cruise that it would start on Easter Sunday. This meant that there were a lot of families with children sharing a cabin, so the ship's capacity at double occupancy is 4,004, but had over 4,800 passengers. It's been rare that I've had to wait for a meal on NCL, and when I did it was never more than 10 minutes. On this cruise, I had to wait as long as 30 minutes, and the service was slow. From the time we got to the main dining room until we left was often two hours. In spite of the extra work, the waiters were all cheerful and gave good service. This was also the shortest cruise I've been on (five days) and for me, there just wasn't enough time to enjoy all that the ship had to offer. In spite of all this, we had a good time. A bad day cruising is better than. . .I don't know, I never had a bad day cruising.

Would I use NCL again? More than likely, No. It was the first time my child didn't want to go to every session, because of the noise.
